1/32 Revell Supermarine Seafire Mk 1B

Recommended Posts

Gosh that brings back some memories, build it a long time ago and enjoyed it, its certainly not up to modern standards but in it's day it was state of the art particularly the surface detail. Hope you enjoy the build.

Cheers

I was looking a all the parts in the kit, and  on the inside of the radiator housing

is embossed Revell 1990. I new it was old but damn 30 years.

The panel lines are going to need a lot of work.

I think I may fined that with all my old kits.

Don't think the wife going to let me buy any new kits.

She knows how many I have.

It is actually far older than that! The original molds were made close to 50 years ago. The positive side of the kit is the fact existing aftermarket items intended for other kits may be easily used if you want. For instance resin LG wells intended for the recent Revell kit may be used and this is quite useful as that old kit has none! Same thing for wheels or cockpit items such as the seat or IP.

I built one of the really old versions of this kit a few years back and did it wheels up to avoid the wheels wells. It actually looked pretty darn decent with some good paint and weathering, and some nice aftermarket exhaust pipes. I rather like this old kit, which is more than I can say for a lot of the old Revells. Have fun!
