Stevepd
Hi all, I’m looking at starting my 1/35 Trumpeter Chinook and I’m intending to get a few bits at Telford this weekend. Is there a 1/35 M60 machine gun out there?. This was/is used on the ramp by RAF Aircraft. Separately is there anything you’d recommend that would compliment the kit aftermarket wise. Looking to do a 7 Squadron cab from Iraq 2004. Steve.
thierry laurent
Are you sure? I don't think the RAF ever used the M60 but rather the GPMG (British version of the Belgian FN MAG). As far as I know, the only Commonwealth countries using the M60 were the Australian and New-Zealand infantry troops in Vietnam. BR Thierry
Stevepd
This is where I got it from: https://www.raf.mod.uk/aircraft/chinook/ I to thought it was a GMPG..........
ringleheim
Is this what you are talking about? I know nothing about helicopters. Tamiya makes a 1/35 set you might want if I understand what you are looking for correctly. Tamiya 35141 has an M-60 in 1/35 https://www.super-hobby.com/products/MM-Modern-U.S.-Accessory.html Stevepd
John1
Dragon has a -60 in an old MG set. Believe you will have some work to remove the bipod and add the spade grips to replicate the helo weapon. LSP_K2
I seem to recall that one of our own forum members was making a lot of helicopter used weapons, but I don't remember who that was right now.
LSP_Ray
Live Resin has the best weapons for choppers, but I don't know if they have the M60. LSP_K2
LSP_Mike
Tamiya PBR has 1-2 as well. Stevepd and LSP_K2
thierry laurent
Indeed they mentioned a M60D but if I were you I would double-check as I do not know any armed Brit helo with such weapons (Puma, Lynx, etc.). What they mention is the typical US Chinook package. Regarding the M60, I think Plus models also released them. However this is the infantry type. If somebody released the recent double grip type, this should indeed be Live resin.
thierry laurent
Well, we have now the evidence! https://www.militaryimages.net/media/raf-aircrew-gunner.8300/ I'm really wondering why they went that non-standard approach...? Fred Jack
Plus Models in Japan have a 1/35 M60, and ET Models makes a 1/35 Detail Set for the M60 in 1/35. Stevepd
Stokey Pete
https://www.scalemates.com/kits/live-resin-lre-35088-mag-58-gsmg-general-support-machine-gun-l7a2-gpmg--221184 These guys do some great castings. I grabbed a whole Blackhawk full of chaps and guns from Live Resin, so can vouch for their high quality.
