  1. I saw a BF108 at the Musee de Militaire in Brussels. It’s a beautiful plane and much smaller than I expected, having only seen photos.
  2. I need as many Nieuports I can get to use up my old American/Gryphon escadrille N3 Storks.
  3. I am building a respectable French force. It’d be nice to have more French two seaters and bombers. I have this huge book on the French Airforce Of WWl, and what models I do have only take up about a dozen pages of this book. I appreciate the two Salmson kits, and the Morane Saulnier, and I love Nieuports and SPADs. We even lost the only Company making the only SPAD Xlll, but the French Airforce was so much more, but looking at my shelves, you wouldn’t think so.
  4. I like the Bebe and will get all that CSM produces to go with all my Hobbycraft and Roden models.
  5. I’m still waiting and not seeing the rest of the Century Series promised by Trumpeter. Apparently Trumpeter’s promises mean nothing.
  6. The previous comments prove how much of a gap exists in Japanese aircraft being produced besides fighters, which is strange considering the Japanese aircraft being produced are all being produced by Japanese companies.
  7. Maybe we can get a Sieran and a 1/32 I class Submarine to go with it.
  8. Funny how so many people weren’t satisfied with only one company producing a Fokker Dr1, and WnWs producing or going to produce very obscure fighters, yet the most popular French fighter, SPAD Xlll has only been produced in 1/32 scale by one company now out of business. Even so, that model had no engine compartment, making it difficult to leave the louvers off, as often was done in WWl.
  9. I have the early, I might take this opportunity to get the late.
  10. Actually, if you look closely at the decals with a magnifying glass, the small decals for the various parts say NIE 17. The only surviving Nie17 ln Brussels also says NIE17 yet the SPAD says Xlll, just like my references. I think it’s because all the SPAD Xllls has no other versions whereas the Nie17s had an A, B, and C version due to the armament differences. Nie17a had a Lewis fun on the wing. The Nie17b had a vickers on the nose. The Nie17c had both Lewis and vickers.
  11. I know I’m kicking a dead horse, but in my 60 years studying WW1 aviation None of my references nor I have ever heard of Nieuport numbers being Roman Numerals nor any other French Aircraft except SPADS.
  12. The Nie 21 had a Nie 11 Fuselage and Nie 17 wings and except for about two dozen were trainers. The 21s sent to the front caries one .303 Vickers gun. The Nie 23 was basically a failure until further wing bracing wires were installed along with Nie17 wings. It was soon replaced with the better Nie24. ref: French Aircraft of the First World War- Dr James J. Davilla and Arther M. Soltan
  13. Yes on the Vimy, Blackburn, and DH10, but first I’d like to see a Friedrichshafen for obvious reasons.
  14. I like it too. Don’t forget to unfold the wings before takeoff, or your crew will be in a nasty shock.
  15. The ones I’ve seen had different fuselage noses.
  16. I fell in love with the possibility of a Staaken after seeing what looks like a 1/32nd scale model at the Smithsonian being attacked by a fighter in a night scene in a special room. I read many Staaken were produced but most were all different, so do we have to choose which one we want. I can’t suppose owning more than one.
  17. I am sooo grateful for the WnWs Lancaster, not because I ever plan to get one, but that it proves that an Ilya Muromet or a Zeppelin Staaken is now within Wnw’s size frame.
  18. We already have D-1 through D-3 Albatrosses on the market. There are still so many gaps in WW1 aircraft that have never been produced. To me, the early Albatrosses being produced are good enough. If there are those who think they are lacking, there are Eduard upgrades.
  19. Frankly, I’m more than happy with my Roden and OOP Hobbycraft Dr1s. If I want more DR-1s whether I get more Roden or WnWs, it will end up which is cheaper. As far as items missing from inside the nose of the WnWs Dr1, if there is something I can’t see in a model, I don’t add it myself.

    Do 17

    So it’s 50-50 whether we will get a Do-17 or a Don’t-17.
  21. Thanks, but I’m strictly 1/32 when it comes to airplanes.
