trooper
Seeking information on a rumor/or news posting if there is an upcoming release of a F4U corsair coming out in the near future. Does anyone know for sure?
1to1scale
I only heard a rumor a few years ago that Kinetic was working on one, but nothing to substantiate it.
1to1scale
Although, I think the Hellcat needs a foe, maybe an A6M5 in 1/24. I am am going to guess that as successful as the Hellcat is, Airfix is already working on something in 1/24. Maybe they will drop some hints this winter? coogrfan

1to1scale
I was hoping for something more modern, maybe Hellcat style, super detailed. coogrfan
Collin
1/24 is too large. We need a new Hellcat in 1/32, and later versions of Corsair types as well. Don’t get me wrong, the 1/24 Hellcat is impressive. Just too large for this builder. My my two cents for any developers out there listening. Out2gtcha
Agreed, as impressive as the new AF F6F is (and as rare as it is for me in 24th, I will be getting a copy) it is a LARGE model and takes up a lot of real estate, especially if one wanted to start making more models in that scale. jimbo

Until that day comes the old Bandai kits are the only game in town. Good news: both kits are generally accurate in outline and feature nicely done surface detail. Bad news: like most large kits of similar vintage, both are lacking in interior detail (the Shiden-kai is the better kit in that regard). trooper
A good thing about larger scale, little parts are bigger little parts. Especially with 67 year old eyes. Daywalker, Lothar, otis252 and 2 others

Lee in Texas
So...no votes for detailing the 1/18 F4U? It will look great hanging from my ceiling as the Bud Light Super Corsair.

Palm-tree
1/24rth too large? That is why Airfix provided the option to fold the Hellcat wings, just like on the carriers. Now there is the justification to yourself to buy and build it.

And also the fact that the first US shipment is pretty much sold out everywhere, and the next shipment is not due til sept. Out2gtcha
