Shawn M
Shot the green last night, painted the seat and started picking out details. Had to mix my own RAF interior green, happy with it so far. Used the new Vallejo Wash line as well, not sure how I feel about it yet. monthebiff
Very nice progress on the cockpit, should look good under a coat of paint. Regards. Andy
Shawn M
Thanks Andy, so far so good. I will snap some pics after my bench night tomorrow (wife is gone so fast food, bourbon, loud music and model time all night!) monthebiff

geedubelyer
You've managed to bring alot of life into the cockpit Shawn, good job. Keep at it, it's looking superb. Cheers.
Shawn M
Thanks GeeDub' Finished the pilot and got him seated once and for all! From black to brown: to many colors but mostly brown.. taped in while his glue dries and 2 finished pics of him! While this is quite an achievement, I must say Im bummed a bit too. My plan has been to secure him in place with an eduard sutton harness I have, Buuuuuuut his massive head is too big to fit the belts around and have them lay right.... So.....do I make some tape belts for Mr. Linebacker or let him float free? geedubelyer, tucohoward and petrov27
Cees Broere
Make some tape belts to give him some comfort during evasive flying. Cees
mozart
You've made a great job of that pilot Shawn, both the re-carving of the basic figure and then the painting, very very good. For what it's worth, my pilot's moulded seat belts ended on his shoulders so I made the extensions to go back through the bulkhead from a wine bottle top cover. Shawn M
Thanks gang! Im starting to enjoy pilot figures vs. dread them..slowly. I figured out the Vallejo Washes, they're more like a glaze then a wash which is fine once you know it. Shoulder back belts work for me, I've already got a slot in the armor and the PE as a template. I will probably use wine foil like Max, easy to work with and I have loads of it. Maru, funny you mention that as some day I'd love to do a bail out in flight vignette... Shawn M
I started to glue up the main wing last night as well as the horizontal stabs/elevators and the rudder. Then I realized I had cut the hole for the radiator backwards! Not my best moment. So a bit more filler required then I can close that wing up. Prop and spinner are glued and filled, time for paint there. Tonight I hope to get the fuse closed up, then need to figure out the mount for the stand. mozart
Tonight I hope to get the fuse closed up, then need to figure out the mount for the stand. Yep, how to mount my in-flight Spitfire is in the back of my mind too, I'll be interested to see what solution you come to Shawn! Max
Shawn M
Thanks Max, I usually use a brass pin going into a block or sleeve in the fuse. Just need to decide where and how. As there isn't much room "under" the cockpit I may need to go just aft of the pit in line with the aerial mast.
geedubelyer
The pilot looks great Shawn. I gave my version a handlebar moustache The whole lot is coming together nicely. Cheers.
Phartycr0c
The painting on the pilot is top notch although I do feel for him with his arm roadrash injuries! Bringing life to an older kit really is an art. The kits available mowadays really spoil us. keep up the great work. dmthamade and geedubelyer
