Rob Colvin
High speed silver on the meteor.......is it gloss, flat, or simigloss? It is kind of tough to tell in few B&W photos i have. Also does it look like silver paint darker/ lighter......any reccomendations? i would rather have a RAF camo bird... out of the current HK meteor mk 4. That said I understand the RAF naver had the 4 in camo. Thanks Rob
LSP_Ron
I would go with a semi gloss Rob, maybe Tamiya AS-12?
LSP_Kevin
Great photo, Ron! For what it's worth, Rob, I use Tamiya AS-12 to replicate High Speed Silver. Kev Zero77
LSP_Ron
LOL. While editing my thread to add AS-12 you posted Kev. AS-12 looks the part to me?
LSP_Kevin
I reckon so, Ron. To my eye, it's one of the few 'silvers' with enough of a grey tone in it for the job. It's also the paint I'd choose as the base for a weather natural metal finish. Kev
LSP_Ron
Agreed, one of my favorites. I've been using it extensively on my Mossie build. I love those Tamiya rattle cans!!!!!

ericg
Hi Rob, As has already been said, Tamiya AS-12 for the High speed silver. I applied mine directly from the can, 2 light coats followed by a clear coat of Tamiya Semi gloss clear Acrylic. Hope that helps. Eric.

MikeC
What do the strips represent, Tony? Kev Target Tug/training scheme: the strips are dayglo orange, originally over HSS, later Light Aircraft Grey http://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=1900 (Sorry, I know I'm not Tony, but I do rather like this scheme) Edited September 26, 2015 by MikeC
