Guest Peterpools
Mark Of course, I've been there more then once and I know how you feel. Almost nothing I tried removed the white staining and I needed to completely strip all the paint off and start over. Normally when glossing with Tamiya Clear or any Clear Gloss Coat that requires thinning, too much thinner is not a healthy proposition. I thin Tamiya Clear with X-20A and nothing else. I almost never thin beyond 50/50 with 60/40 (thinner to Clear) being the limit. The more thinner used, the Gloss becomes thinner and thinner, lays downs smoothly but what is actually n the model paint is mostly thinner and that will cause the problem. I've moved away from Clear Gloss and Clear Flats that require thinning and use mostly the Alclad gloss and flats and have been trouble free. I have my fingers crossed Peter
ScottsGT
Hey Mark, what thinner did you use? I was at my LHS and they had Tamiya lacquer thinner that comes in the same exact bottle as the acrylic reducer. It the white cloudy mess sitting on top of your paint, or is it the paint itself? If it's on top, it might sand off if you are careful. mark31
Vitali
I hate it when you get so far along and the finish line is in sight and then wham, two steps back. I would say humidity is the likely culprit. Hang in there you can fix it. mark31
Bill_S
Mark, What kind of paint is under the clear coat? If you used enamels, a little diluted ammonia should remove the Tamiya acrylic without harming what's beneath. Vitali and mark31

marauderdriver
Hi Mark, Sorry for taking this long to comment on this build......LOOKING GOOD! Been out of the fold for awhile and catching up with the Phantom builds. I have this set also and will be leaning on this thread when I get to mine. Right now I'm starting the GT Resins F-4B conversion and the Dreaded BDR Removal. Will be checking as you update this build.
