Thunnus Posted January 25 Posted January 25 The paint and weathering on your XIVe looks fantastic, John! Very inspirational. John1 1
John1 Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 (edited) So I think I'm calling this one quits. Added the underwing pitot tube and IFF antenna, on the topside, I added the whip antenna. In retrospect - I enjoyed the build immensely and I pushed my personal boundaries by doing a hard edge camo scheme, which I've always stayed away from. On the downside, I do regret not painting on at least the national insignias. I was pretty happy with the smaller decals, they went down fine. Oh well, lesson learned. Cudos to Laminar Flow, they are pushing the state of the art in our industry, can't wait to see what the next subject will be (my vote is for an F4U-4 conversion of the lovely Tamiya -1D kit). Anyway, here are a few final pictures, when I get around to it, I'll put up a RFI post. Thanks for all the great comments and support, it really means a lot guys. I see I need to secure the tape MG port cover. No biggie, I'll get that done. Thanks for looking in! Edited February 4 by John1 Landrotten Highlander, geedubelyer, Martinnfb and 9 others 12
FW190A-5 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Very well done! The Griffon Spitfires are in a class to themselves as is your fine depiction. Thanks for sharing this with us. John S Martinnfb and John1 1 1
Uncarina Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Magnificent work as always and I’ve really enjoyed seeing your build come to life! Cheers, Tom Martinnfb and John1 1 1
geedubelyer Posted February 4 Posted February 4 That's a tremendous result John. I'm a big fan of your weathering. It takes courage to weather a model to this degree and skill to pull it off successfully. Well done Thanks for sharing this lovely model. Looking forward to the RFI Cheers, Guy John1, chuck540z3 and Martinnfb 2 1
Martinnfb Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I can only echo the above, splendid work John. Cheers Martin John1 1
Biggles87 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) +1 on that John PS I can see that those pesky ‘erks’ have been clambering over it in their big boots. Edited February 5 by Biggles87 Martinnfb and John1 1 1
Shoggz Posted February 4 Posted February 4 That’s a superb representation of a beautiful aircraft. I’m a huge fan of your finishing skills John. Seems odd that one of the big boys hasn’t done a large scale Griffon Spit, so hoorah to Mathieu and his Laminar Flow for making it possible. geedubelyer, John1, Martinnfb and 1 other 3 1
scvrobeson Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Exceptional looking Spitfire! I'll second the hope for an F4U-4 conversion for the Tamiya kits Matt John1 and Martinnfb 2
Dpgsbody55 Posted February 5 Posted February 5 A great looking Spitfire Mk.XIV. You've set the bar for these conversions. Cheers, Michael John1 1
