That's the Brandenburg D.I Star-Strutter. Been anxiously awaiting that one ever since it was announced as a potential for WnW years ago. Then CSM announced it, and I can't wait for it. I'm going my part by buying their kits

    hello everyone,
again as part of my personal campaign "let's save them from oblivion" I have finally completed this kit which I only started in 2020.
LSP and its "traders board" section came to my aid: here I found in December the Master X beaching trolley (thank you, Martin!) which I used as a sample to scratchbuild my own and complete this building.

unfortunately there is no reference wip here, I was not yet present on LSP when I started building it, but only on an Italian forum.
However, it is a very nice kit and full of potential for improvement. the choice of colors and their creation was the result of a rather extensive research and imagination work, but they remain my interpretation of RLM 72 and 73, paints little explored by the WL modeling and historical community.

as always in my models, where there are interesting compartments, I have built the engine and accessory compartment panels that can be opened thanks to micromagnets inserted into the thickness of the styrene parts.

I hope you find it interesting, although it took me too long to finish it, I had a lot of fun with this beautiful kit.
    cheers, Paolo

    Hi there!

I am a bit late, the EME was back in March, but now it's time to show you my photos of the large plane models. The was a surprisingly large number of LSP models this year, also a good number of newly builds. Even a whole Ju-88 diorama!

But let's start with some gossip

Revell: They had a booth for one day, but I missed them on that day. Too much other activities. So I was not able to renew the question for a new LSP kit by Revell or a re-relaease of the Ju-88 kit(s).

HMH Publications /Duke Hawkins books: Had a diner with the publisher at Bruxelles. Talking about some contributions to upcoming books as well as how to improve my photographs. Not to forget to taste a good share of Belgish beers (this was my part  ) (Heck, there are 1.200 different beers in Belgium!). Main news: HMH will come up with a Bf 109K-4 book at the release of the Kotare kit. 100 or so photos of different K-4, a lot of color profiles and so on. And with a set of large scale decals for the K-4, a la the Hurricane set. Side news: Another book about the 109 is pending. HMH would like to bring a book about the Fw 190 too, but they are lacking photos of an aircraft with a mounted BMW engine. Not on display stand, but bolted onto an airframe. Recent flying 190s are all equipped with Shevtsov engines, that's the problem here.

Copper State Models: Had a longer conversation with the owner. Well, the upcoming Hansa-Brandenburg (IIRC, not sure about the type) biplane looks very, very nice in the flesh. They had a 3D-printed prototype with them at the EME. The engine mold is at hand from another of the CSM kits. Talk about synergies. But, -but!- they just have to sell more of the older kits to earn the money needed to cut the molds for the new aircraft kit. It will come injetion molded as always by CSM, not 3D printed. The print was just the proof of concept for the new kit.
I did what I could and bought a Garford-Putilov kit with extras. The CSM owner did not hesitate to dive into his sources to advise me about the useful update sets for my preferred marking options and to tell me what AM is not needed too. I've also bought two sets of CSMs spoked wheels. No need to fiddle with PE spokes and tire halves, just ready to paint. Man, these are really, really nice wheels!
Insider stuff: Riga (Latvias capital) is not worth a visit. If you want to see the Baltic states, go to Tallin (capital of Estonia).

Next year the EME will become 25 years old! Don't miss to pay a visit!
That's it for the gossip. Photos next to come.

Quick update: I’m almost done with the seat. I’ve made it look worn (probably too worn) but went with a standard interior green frame and a kind of murky black-green for the padding as I suspect that is what many of the wartime seats were padded with. The pad in the seat pan looks like it was a piece of leather to prevent chaffing of the parachute rip-chord. Unlike @Shoggz really neat work with the molded-in straps, I am going with Eduard metal straps. More later this week…

    Kind regards,
    Paul

Hi Paul, I think it may be a reference re the padding that was usually on the seat.
    Sometimes it was black ...

Though these are not wartime photos,  they may represent what was .

Small detail, but really well executed and clean looking.  It's nice to have this and another Viper build going at the same time, all in totally different directions.

Been a long time since I've posted anything, had a few false starts over the last few years but in reality my heart wasn't in it. A lot has happened in the past few years from a couple of health scares, taking early retirement from my job after 44 years ( not health related ) to our first Granddaughter arriving.
So I have decided to try and get back into building again especially with quite a few semi started kits kicking around the house, I thought I need something nice and simple so after raking through the stash I found the venerable Hasegawa 109. Upon opening the box apart from the kit parts there was an MDC cockpit, Quickboost exhausts, Radu's seat belts and wheel well upgrade. Wow I forgot all this was in there plus I reckon it's been at least 15+ years since I last built one so that could be how long the bits have been in the box.
I'm going for a German 109 rather than the Italian one on the box, so the markings will be replaced with aftermarket ones.
So far I have built the cockpit using the MDC set apart from the main panel, I replaced it with the pre-painted one from Eduard as I couldn't be ersed yet doing it plus it looks a hell of a lot better than I could do. It only needed a bit of trimming to get it to fit, I used material the seat belts and they proved quite a challenge as my eyesight has gone to pot and the hands shake a bit so getting the material through the buckles was infuriating at times plus I've cheated a bit missing threading it through some of the buckles.
So far it's been quite enjoyable and a learning process all over again.

I continued with metal parts, here is the engine, its very detailed out of the box, I just added spark plug wiring later, it doesn't appear in this picture.

for the metal parts I primed them with black base from AK Xtreme Metal colors. Later I airbrushed AK Xtreme Metal Aluminium and then used chipping fluid technique on the colors. I don't want to varnish this parts so the metal chips keep their shine in contrast with paint roughness

Some more done on the 188 and first up getting the resin extensions to the stabilisers cleaned up and reshaped/ rescribed

and then fitted to the wings alone woth the ailerons

The landing light cover was fitted and tinted in Tamiya Clear Yellow

Time fir a quick test fit with the fuselage to see how we are looking

A fee more areas of clean up and a little re-scribing needed but all in all very happy.

I've also started to take a look at the cockpit tub and see where I was up to and decide how to tackle the rest of it

Definitely the first thing will be to paint that final joint left over from cutting the casting in half to detail it.

Hello all, this is something i've been working for a while....the Tamiya F-16

There isn't much to say about this kit that most haven't already said as its quite an old-ish kit now and been covered a lot, but I'll add to its plaudits. Nice detail and fitting isn't an issue anywhere on the kit.

I added some extra detail into the undercarriage bays using various thicknesses of solder wire, Red Fox Studio's cockpit set, mine own mask sets (DM Scale Models) for the insignia and tail codes plus my 'inspection hatches, stencil masks and canopy' set.

Paints used were all by Gunze, C305 and C306 were the basic colours and various parts were base colours plus white for variation.

I used resicast lens as the light.

I’ve sprayed some of the MRP neutral grey 43 here, just to check my work in this area (probably should have used primer instead, as I have a ton of that). Despite what I’d thought were my best efforts, the seam still shows! I’ll continue the work to get it as decent as I can.
