    hi
rebuild the windscreen is not that hard to achieve , you only have to take care of the two lateral parts in order to get a nice " square " front part  . if you intend to reduce the top fuselage , you will have to rework the whole cockpit width : IP , floor etc , if you don't you will met issue to close the fuselage  ... hope I 've been clear
    Alain
my 406 ... not the ideal , or accurate , but it's works for me  in any case , the kit has its flaws here and there , it depend how far you will go in accuracy

here is how to rework the top fuselage ( Waroff advises) : remove more or less 1mm in front of the windscreen , and 5mm at the other side

Anders_Isaksson reacted to Cap'n Wannabe in Matchbox 1/32 Westland Lysander: Engine weathering starts..
Bit of a quiet day today, so I started playing with my Inventor software and my new resin 3D printer.  I've had the idea in the back of my mind for a while to add some details to the Lysander, even though I'd originally decided to built it strictly OOB.  Anyhow, looking at photos of the engine bay, the exhaust collector that runs around the front of the engine is very prominent.  I cut the cowling part from the sprue, got out the trusty Verniers, measured it up, then modelled it in Inventor.  Then I modelled a part to fit inside it and pick up the tops of the engine cylinders.  Bearing in mind I'm not sure of the final depth of the thing right now, here's the first test print.  The front of the ring didn't quite print properly - not worried about that right now - but the collector pipes did...

And here it is in place..

Just found an additional snippet of info as it seems the -2 featured an oil cooler door on the lower cowling.

But perhaps Trumpeter never bothered to modify their -2 to include the door?
Otherwise I assume it might be easy to backdate the cowl by deleting the door.

Hmm, after posting yesterday I spotted a French -1B and it seemed to have the -2 canopy.
Perhaps it was a retrofit? i will have to look around some more...

Edit: Found this photo that I borrowed from https://wwiiafterwwii.wordpress.com.

    Lovely paintjob all around, Wolf!
I really like how the different colors (even the insignia yellow) just seem to blend together.

No doubt you will bring the best out of the stencil decals, but have you considered using dry transfers for the stencilling?
Apologies if this is old news, but Hobbydecal make a dedicated set for the Spitfire.
I used the 48th scale version on a recent build and was very happy with the result:

I got myself a Hobbydecal sheet to use on my Spit Mk VIII, whenever I get that far...

(Again, sorry if all this was old news, but I thought I should ask.)

    Keep it up!

Yes Anders. This is a resin two-seater (USAF) conversion for the Trumpeter single seat kit. Navy versions will be released next year.

    Nice indeed!
But apart from a radar nose building a proper J 30 Mosquito will need a set of four-blade propellers too, right?

Anders, no, not much to do.  And if Italeri have their heads screwed on properly, they will account for that in the kit. There are a few aerials, guns or no guns, recce blister, moved ident lights, cockpits are a fair bit updated, the GR4 has the second blister under the nose, recce windows on the sides of the nose,. All very simple things to include and swap or fit, or not, as needed. The nose undercarriage got beefed up at some point too. Otherwise, by far the bulk of the external updates are in the weapons fitted. They could go bananas, and put in ALARMs, Paveways of various types, TIALD, the modern laser targeting pod, TERMA, BRIMSTONE, and the newer AIM rails. Going backwards, a pair of JP233s, STORM SHADOW, MARTEL, Twin Stores Carriers.  Maybe a sprue with one of each, supplied multiple times? Or even as a separate update kit?  I'd buy a dozen such sprues at least! And that's just for the Brit ones!

Can't say I know, but Roy already offer wheels that look superior than the resin ones provided in the box.

You may have to do a bit of sanding to get everything fitting well, but that's common with Aries.

Not that I really have anything to add to the gear door discussion but I now remember that I did mimic that effect on my 48th scale Tamiya Thunderbolt.

(Apologies for mentioning a small scale model here on LSP... )

Still, I am interested in the Eduard/Hasegawa P-47. Hopefully the extras will make it a worthwhile investment.

Too bad those seats need modifying, great work so far though!

I just asked the Aires guys here at the Moson show in Hungary about any upcoming A-6 stuff.
If I understood their answer correctly they have cockpits and wheel bays in the works and the sets should be ready by this fall.
    Sounds promising!

What an effort, Anthony. Many thanks for sharing and I am curious to see if a corrected nose and spinner will be commercially available.
Still have't started my SH Tempest and I can just as well wait a while to see what happens.
