'The trickier blending will be with the engine cowling so who knows how that is going to go.'
Reshape the front of the gun breech plug or inside of the cowling.  Then you'll be able to pinch the bottom corner inward.  Just sayin'.

What did you use as an overcoat?

Nice tie-in.  You are so right.

Nice work.  Good stuff going on here.

Thank-you all for the birthday wishes!

I’m still around but I’ve recently immersed myself in working on a car model. There’s a whole new world in aftermarket stuff for vehicles!

I had to have emergency surgery for a perforated ulcer the beginning of February. I spent two days in ICU after surgery and having gone septic, it was unclear whether I was going to remain on this side of the grass or not. I spent three weeks in hospital, I don’t remember anything of the first week. I was off work for a full two months. I’m still dealing with some residual effects of the surgery these days but overall doing much better. I sold off some of my stash and while going through it I discovered just how many car models I had so I figured it was time to have at ‘er on some of them. That’s why I’ve been a bit scarce here. It’s kind o’ like moving to a new neighborhood and finding there’s so much to explore. In my best Arnold Schwartzenegger voice, “I’ll be back.”

    Cheers,
    Wolf

And, no, I don't have an advanced copy of the soon to be released Airfix 1/24 Spit IXc. I do, however, have one on pre-order. Years ago, I converted the Airfix Mk.1a and thought you might be interested in seeing what the new kit will look like  beside their Typhoon. The pilot figure is that offered by Imrie Risley.

Just finished this one.  Got the kit for a song and along with it came some Eduard Photo Etch and a metal barrel.  The kit Thoma Schurzen brackets were too short, so I had to rip them off and got skirt less...   so to speak.

I was lucky enough to catch Spitfire Mk IX MJ271 (G-IRTY) when it was at (relatively) nearby Paine Field in Sept 2019 during the world-round trip. Did not get to see it fly, but was able to spend some time in the hangar while maintenance was being done. Maybe one of my shots will be of some benefit to your project.

    Starting with the wings:

The bottom wings have had all their shell ejector openings filled in. A couple of bulges has been replicated.

Next up the top wing fuel tanks.

The panel with the gun bulge has been replaced with a plain one without any bulges.

    The fuel 'cells'

So the research of the cockpit has started...

An iPad instead of a Gunsight!

I have no clue what this is but I'm assuming it has something to do with navigation, I can see a Garmin!

And.. perhaps I can have a little help here, with the box behind the head armor...

The long range fuel tank filler modification...

    Cheers: Kent

Hi, I finally found a couple of cabinets I could afford. They were advertised on a second hand site online here in Aus and I brought the large one first and then was offered the smaller one at a better price so grabbed that to. Big one is 1.2mtrs wide by 45cm width by 2mtrs High smaller one is 1mt wide by 45cm width by 2mtrs high and they were very heavy to move, thank god for the wheels. I had been waiting a long time for cabinets like these to show up for sale and to get both for a price I was happy with is fantastic. I should have enough shelf space for a bit but I can always add a couple of more shelves when I do run out of room. Cheers Bob.

Nice aircraft! Kit is also OK, but has some printing issues. Layer lines across the wing ribs and a mayor sinkhole at the fuselage bottom. Nevertheless buildable, if I am able to overcome the layer lines problem. More pics:

Why 4 wheels? Because one or the wheels at the large sprue was misprinted, so the manufacturer provided a replacement right in the box. Well done!

Decas, masks, instructions (and not visible: very small precut windshields):

A very welcome addition to my stash of interwar Czech aircraft!

    Enjoy!

some masking and painting with 1ManArmy masks

some attention is required to the placement of the stencils especially the small ones
as you have to find the exact position on such a small surface and the masks are not fully transparent..

    thank you!

now moving to the wing  camouflage
RLM 81 AK the *green version ). and gunze RLM 75

there is no weathering yet , just pre-shading , painting and immediately a light sanding with micromesh.

I have a layer with hairspray in some areas like the wing roots and the the wing gun covers but it can activated any time , so i will deal with that when
i 'll decide the overall look..

maybe too much chipping it the gun cover ?

    thanks for watching!
