Oh no really Mark? I thought the engine was awesome! At least we can be content in the knowledge that if you feel you need to improve on what you've already done, the end result will be certainly something to behold!

Very good and BRAVE painting Mark! When you get that dull coat on that heavily weathered finish it will really pop and look the part.
I'm really looking forward to seeing that bad-ass engine and all the goodies you have created around it. I can see the oil stains already.
Cheers,
Chuck

Jeez - another one I have been dying to see, and boy was it worth the wait! Mark it looks utterly convincing, a superb paintjob really sets off all the work you put into the details
I only wish I could paint like that, (and weather like that, and build like that etc etc)..
superb!

Fabulous paint work Mark! It looks perfect.
The landing gear looks a little short though.

Holy Moly m' man! That's really startin' to come together! Fantastic work Mark.
Just a suggestion though, if I may? The gasket material around the gun bay cover openings might be a bit too thick!
Cheers,
Wolf

Wow, neat! Love the effect. It would be a good technique for getting fading on enamel paints for me as Ive used the hairspray effect to get similar results, occasionally in concert with a finish sanding pad, but of course you have no choice to use acrylics in that case.
Looking forward to more!

Mark - that gear bay is simply sensational - it must have been a devil to paint at such resolution
you must know the airfame well enough by now to sit your maintenence ticket and start working on the real ones

When I built that master for the tail wheel bay I used pics I had copied from the P-51SIG of the museum sample in I believe Switzerland. It is pretty much untouched since they got it. I was actually talking more about the cloth covers that were over the lightening holes in the box itself that makes up the gear bay. It kept dirt and mud from getting inside the fuselage. It looks like felt almost. Then there is the canvas boot that surrounded the tail gear itself and it also has a zipper. It's been a while, sorry. I can't remember how the canvas boot attaches but I would guess with snaps ? I have the WIP in this site somewhere but I am hopeless still with a computer and couldn't tell how to find it. That was many moons ago. Nice work brother

Finally got to catch up here. The usual impressive detailed model building from you as always !
That main gear bay and cockpit are extraordinary. I love the open top on the flare pistol port. Never seen that done before anywhere. I would point out the brown thing to its' left was a canvas bag and the seam in the middle was a zipper. I was kinda hoping you would continue your "maverick" streak and show the original cloth covers over the interior of the tail gear bay lightening holes but I have to be satisfied with the flare thing I suppose. LoL
Brilliant model.

Outstanding! I'll be saving those wheel well shots for when I do my big 'Stang.
Just a quick note about the prop, the cuffs were actually made of rubber so of course they wouldn't be chipped up.

Amazing painting and weathering as always, Mark! These will all make great reference pictures for my second 1/24 Mustang once the first one is completed.
I've been considering to weather my Gustav's propeller blades very much like yours with a wide brush and some silver paint, but I'm terrified of messing it up! Not even sure it'd be accurate for a luftwaffle bird anyway, eh.

Ha! Excellent job! There's no use going nuts in the engine compartment and not doing the same thing in the cockpit.
