M1A2 SEP v3 - Australia’s new Abrams (1/16)
Smokeyforgothispassword replied to GMK's topic in Non-LSP Works
A decade ago I heard the odd old fart stating that 3D printing would be the end of model making..Mate, you've not only proven them wrong you've also inspired old farts like me Beautiful work, both on the CAD side and printing side -
It helps to have a son in the Air Force...
Smokeyforgothispassword replied to jmustarde's topic in LSP Discussion
Any chance you'll be putting your Son up for adoption? I can throw a couple of Airfix TSR2's in to sweeten the deal? -
I'm trying to surmise what has been mentioned in this thread. 1. No engine detail 2. Single engine 3. Manageable size 4. Marketability. 5. Research- ability. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the A4 Skyhawk! My reasoning (in no particular order); There are a couple within spitting distance that can be measured, scanned, photographed and crawled over. Engine detail can be sorted out with a compressor fan and whatever the bit at the backs called. It's much the same size as a Spit, just thinner and longer. With sensibly thought out moulds, I cant see why any version couldn't be kitted without breaking the bank. My supplementary thought - it was operated by 10 nations, wore some fantastic camo schemes, lived in the era of gorgeous / garish nose and tail art, looks great both clean and laden. I'd buy a few (a few dozen if I won the lottery) - only single seaters though. Now, onto the wishlist that shall remain unsaid - Waco YMF5 - YES YES YES. a thousand times Yes! Lysander - see above CAC CA-15, never going to happen but a boy can dream. P-51 B - nah, I'm not in that camp, they're ugly, but good luck to those who have no taste

I can't say that I'm a fan of the 109, so I might just buy one for the stash, just to support Kotare so they can eventually build the definitive A-4 series

Hi Frank
-
I agree mate, the honest thing to do is share a link to where you bought the files, and allow us to purchase them ourselves, rewarding the designer (therefore encouraging them to create some more 3d models) Anyhow, I've copied all the parts from my Border Models Lanc, I'll sell them for $50 bucks per sprue (ethics be damned !)

New Kotare kit for late 2024 announced
Smokeyforgothispassword replied to Borsos's topic in LSP Discussion
4 if I have a few potato based beverages and decide that a bit of whiffery in the form of an RCAF Snowbirds and an RAAF Roulettes scheme might look fantastic in the Ikea cabinet. Mind you, if I only bought one, I'd probably beat the wish/want/ purchase ratio of a P-51 B. That's the advantage of being a bit odd -
New Kotare kit for late 2024 announced

New Kotare kit for late 2024 announced
Smokeyforgothispassword replied to Borsos's topic in LSP Discussion
As Kotare are a Kiwi company, I hope they do an aircraft significant to them. Obviously it has to have world wide appeal, so a BAC Strikemaster is probably off the table, but perhaps they could look at a Mustang, Corsair, an A4K (please ) or a Walrus? -
I'm in for one, I'll build it in RFDS livery

AMT 1.32 Tie Fighter Review and Build

Hang on, those Ion panels look a bit overscale to me, and where is the flux capacitor?? This kits unbuildable! Now, where can I buy one? -
Border Models Lancaster Dambusters release
Smokeyforgothispassword replied to Robthepom's topic in LSP Discussion
I'll have to send them an email to see if I can get some new clear parts for my B. MKIII, mine aren't too bad, but far from perfect, I've thought about trying to scan, print and then vac form some new ones, but my skills aren't up to the task. -
PBY Catalina reboot?
Smokeyforgothispassword replied to Alex's topic in Aviation Discussion & Research
Whilst I love the Cat (I grew up on a diet of the Cousteau families adventures (a couple of my earlier models were the Calypso {with a Hughes 300?} and also the "flying Calypso, and I'd love to see new builds flying, I really don't think that it's a viable proposition in the roles they're proposing. There are better options for all the jobs that the company are trying to fill, transport for example is easier and more effective with C-17's, C-130's and the like, even if they have to air drop or lapes their loads into the DZ, MPA is covered with P-8's, and to be honest if an amphibian was a necessity then I'd be talking to the Japanese, the US-2 looks like it could do the job! Mind you, if I ever win a billion bucks, I'll be first in line for a new build Cat, but I do wonder if turbo props are needed for an unpressurised aircraft - give me a pair of big 14 cylinder radials, maybe with a bit of fuel injection to modernise them a weebit and I'd be a very happy old man -
What are everyone's go to flat coat?
Smokeyforgothispassword replied to monthebiff's topic in Painting & Finishing
I use Alclads Klear Kote flat (although I despise the use of the letter K as a "kool" substitute for the korrect konsenent C) It's easy to use even for a numpty like me. -
Very nice, I'm jealous!

Would you like a 3D printing thread?
Smokeyforgothispassword replied to Smokeyforgothispassword's topic in General Discussion
Hi all, I was thinking of a subforum like the modellng q@a Tips and tricks forum - it could be anywhere, I'm sure that those of us interested in the subject will find it Admin type person (our overlord) Matt, what do you think, can we get this happening? -
1/35 Boeing AH-64D/E Apache from Takom
Smokeyforgothispassword replied to Kagemusha's topic in LSP Discussion
Something like this ? or this ? -
Hi folks, I'm a 3D printing neophyte, a very keen noob, and it seems that we have some very experienced 3D printers in our midst! I would love to be able to tap into the knowledge and skills that others have earned through hard work, intelligence and sheer bloody mindedness to make my learning curve a little less like climbing K2 and more like frolicking in the rolling green hills of Ireland I'd love it if we could have a "sticky thread " in the Modelling Q@A forum, but I realise that I may be (as usual) the only one who thinks that it's a good idea - that's why I've added a poll
-
I'm no fan of the F-4, and I wouldn't buy one, but I'm sure that I'd be in the minority, so go for it Airfix, you'll have people who like ugly aircraft beating on your door I know it's very unlikely, but an A-4 would have a reasonable large market, (9 operators and a lot of schemes from the sublime to the rediculous) and it's wingspan in 1/24 scale would only be about 37cm. Are there any major external differences (apart from the avionics hump and IAF extended exhaust) between models?

If the Meteor is an F8, I'll take 2, the Sabre, if it's a CA 27, I'll sell my first born for 3 of them

Has anyone mentioned the Zero?

1/32 Sea Fury from DBMK just announced at Telford
Smokeyforgothispassword replied to Ali62's topic in LSP Discussion
Those images look fantastic, and to be honest I'm happy if they take their time releasing them, with all the great models being released I can only afford those I want (need) by either winning the lottery or selling all of my 3 of my 4 kidneys!
