May I ask what the drawings are about Mark? Looks like a nice construction.

Great work Ferry!
Is it the photo, or is there some anhedral to the lower wings?

Painting has started. First I sprayed the oilcooler. I use Hobby color as paint and I really like it. I can spray indoors, even when it's cold because you don't really smell the paint.
For the cooler I used steel with a drop or 2 copper. when you turn it in the light it gets different shades,
Then I went for the exhaust ring. I wanted to try to paint some heat stains. The exhaust is made of copper so that is the first layer.
Then I toke some clear blue,
Followed by clear orange.
Finally i did some layers of grey smoke to darken the copper and try to blend the colors a bit. All it needs now is a coat of matt clear to get rid of the shine.
For the first try i am happy with it. If you see something to do better the next time, please tell me. Every comment is usefull and appreciated

Last 2 weeks i spent time building but forgot to take pictures. I rigged the wings, made the landing gear and the the tail wheel.
The landing gear got some PE.
The wheels are from Mastercasters and i think they look real nice.
The tail wheel however is not so nice. The axel looks crooked.
This was not acceptable so i drilled a hole through the wheel and the bracket.
Then I took some 0.6mm brass tube and made an axel
When assembled itlooks much better. ( For such a small part)
Then I sprayed everything in mr surfacer grey. I'm looking forward to spray some color.
Some small parts
Some bigger parts
And a dryfit
I will try to make some more in progress pics
Thanks for looking

Decided to do some detail/finishing for a change of pace. This is Harold's/AMS resin seat that I have added seat belts and buckles, leg restraint straps some photo-etched bolt heads the ground safety lever on the side of the seat and some Airscale decals.

Fvdm reacted to Alain Gadbois in Polikarpov UTI-4
Hi!
I started making the masters for the canopies tonight with bits of Renshape, a very useful material for sculpting. It is light but rigid and is easy to shape with a sander or a simple x-acto.
This is the initial result after 15-20 minutes cutting and sanding:
After the masters are done, I will make a silicone mold and cast a hard resin copy over which I will form the clear parts.
Also, as in many kits, because of the large wing to fuselage fillet, the complete round lower section of the fuselage is missing. I have been reflecting on the way to correct this. The photos shows where I added styrene strips and epoxy putty to complete the curved section on the fuselage sides. This is the position of a structural member on the fuselage I will ad later with styrene strips.
The curve drawn on the styrene sheet shows just how much is missing:
After reaching this point, it seems the easiest and most practical way in model terms is to build the rest of the missing curve up from the bottom fuselage section. I will use a curved piece of styrene sheet and more epoxy putty to achieve this.
Thanks all!

Fvdm reacted to Durangokid in Canopy polishing
I sand my canopies the same way you have but they always end up a little cloudy even after using the polishes. I kept having problems with the future dip, mainly with tiny little specks sitting on the part after it dried. I thought it was dust settling on the part while it was drying so I tried everything to keep the dust off but nothing worked. Turns out it was the future not completely sealing to the part. I solved this by completely submerging the part in future while brushing it at the same time with a small flat brush. Rubbing the future on with the brush helped it seal and took care of all the specks. Here is my last canopy from my phantom build.
I've seen some guys do it without dipping in future but I have yet to figure that one out. Hope this tip helps...

Hi all,
I'm making a start on the 'full built' Fokker D.VII.
Cockpit items (not yet completed) and flight control rigging and cockpit frame cross bracing.
