Shaka HI reacted to Dandiego in Building Japanese
Detail painting on the nozzles.
Metalizer Burnt iron followed by Exhaust. Some drybrushing with flat aluminum, a dark wash and then a silver pencil.
Colors are a little washed out by the flash.

Ask and you will receive.....
This is verrrrry close to the final version of the camo colors. But every time I look at this I find a new problem or over spray.
Next up a panel wash.

A lot of masking, a lot of painting, a lot of mistakes....
Many, many small corrections are needed and one really big one near the airbrake. Colorful huh?!
I plan on fixing all of the painting mistakes before I unmask the areas that will be natural metal.

It is not a Sharpie. I use a water based marker that is made to use on vellum. I will get the exact type and post info when I get home tonight.

Shaka HI reacted to fightnjoe in 1/32 Hasegawa P-40E Finished
My plan with this build is to just go the way it takes me.
First up is I do actually plan to use some after market.
Some initial images.
And then I let the voices guide me.
Even a little off the wing.
Overall there are some things I am not happy with and some I am. Happy with the work in the cockpit so far. The detail seems to resemble the pictures I have. I am however still not sold on the frames. The kit is the Grey.
All comments, critique, and criticism are encouraged.

Shaka HI reacted to Chris1811 in A-4M "The Little Scooter"
Hey guys
Here is another model that I built years ago and now wants to show here.
This is the trumpeter a-4 m.
The kit is really top, but I still have a little accessories installed.
I built an A-4 m USS Marines "VMA-214 Blacksheep ". The decals come from the kit and are very easy to process.

Shaka HI reacted to BiggTim in Something different - carrier deck display base!
While I was at Nationals, I saw some nice 1/32 resin display bases from ZM and Squadron, and it got me inspired. I bought one of the PSP bases from Squadron, because it was big enought for my P-38, and I could finish it myself; plus I knew I could never make my own that well for the 22 bucks it cost me to buy it.
Not to disparage a company I respect, but frankly, I was not really happy with the detailing or the texture on the ZM bases, especially the carrier deck one. So I picked up a couple sets of the PE US Carrier deck tie down strips from Tom's Model Works, ordered some 3/16" plastic channel from Plastruct, and set about making my own base when I got home. After a lot of trial and error, here are some quick shots with my phone of the final product, with my Hellcat on it as intended. What do you guys think?

Shaka HI got a reaction from MikeMaben in Hurricane heading to HI
Thanks, Troy. It's been a bit hectic for me at work lately. Lane was the last thing we needed. It's been awhile since we've been hit (Island of Oahu, 80% of the population resides on this Island) and looks like we've dodged another bullet. It's still in the middle of Hurricane season and it's been a very active season so far. I think there's another one headed our way (will be named "Norman" if it forms). Miriam shouldn't be an issue.

Shaka HI reacted to Greg W in 1/12 ESCI F-16 Cockpit
This model is the old, ESCI 1/12 scale F-16 Cockpit, which was also released by AMT and Italeri as well. It was built in 1998.
Right out of the box it is a impressive model and I just tweaked it here and there. The major improvements involved changing the toy like appearance of the instrument panel and scratch building a new throttle handle. The restraining harness belts on the ejection seat were made out of medical tape because the kit belts were just not up to par. The oxygen hose and g-suit hose are wound guitar string. The seat cushions are epoxy putty covered with tissue paper soaked in a 50:50 solution of water and white glue.

Shaka HI reacted to 1to1scale in News Flash! Curtis P-40 production line starting up!
It’s been a long 2 whole months since I have mangled any styrene with intent...but the dry spell is over. I have spent the last two months packing, moving, and then unpacking. My hobby room/office is not finished yet, and my work benches are still a week away, but a card gamble and some Tamiya glue is all I need to get started. The walls are painted and carpet is installed, this was a long ordeal because nobody stocks carpet in 15 foot widths except for beige. This MY room! I am going to hang airplane and Star Wars **** all over it! Told my wife to let me (asked politely) do as I please in there.
I spent the last month buying every P-40 I could get my hands on, and accumulating some AM bits and bobs for them. I have also been trying to chase down the final versions of what I wanted to build, the last one decided this morning. To keep me on track, I’m going to stick with these. I now have all the decals and masks on hand or ordered, with the only exception being the Turkish version, which I have not found any decals to make, so I’m going to have to custom mask them.
Here we go, let’s see how confusing it gets with 8 planes on the bench!

Hi guys,
I am proud to present my recently completed 1/32 A-4K Skyhawk. I used the Trumpeter A-4F as the base for my build. Added a Wolfpack resin cockpit and used the Eduard exterior photoetch set. Airbrushed with custom mixes of Tamiya acrylics. Decals are from my own KMNZ Decals custom range (available for purchase worldwide via KMNZdecals@gmail.com).
