  1. Hi Eric, This build keeps getting better and better! I love those catapult hooks that you fashioned from hand. Regarding the small viewing window on the nose...is this the one you're referring to? If so, it's for viewing the brake fluid reservoir sight gauge, as this servicing diagram illustrates... From what I can tell, the gauge itself is set apart some distance from the window and is oriented horizontally against the sloping geometry of the nose section. Therefore, it might not be plainly visible except to a crew chief peering in up close with the aid of a flashlight. Hope this helps, Rich
  2. Very well done sir...superb craftsmanship and paintwork, especially the paintwork! The camouflage colors look perfect. And your metal work on the tail is outstanding. Congratulations on a real stunner. Rich
  3. Wow...one of he best "high speed silver" finishes I've seen. Congrats Don on a great build! Which of the Tamiya Silvers did you use? Rich
  4. Simply stunning Alain - a great build through and through. What's next, another USMC bird perhaps? Rich
  5. Very well done...all the way around - due justice for a classic design. Congratulations on a great build! Rich
  6. Looks grrrrrreat Alain! And you made fast work of a fairly complex project. Congratulations on an impressive model. Can't wait for the RFI spread. Rich
  7. Nice work Peter. A cockpit with four "work stations" must certainly keeps a scratch-builder busy! Keep at it, as lots of us are eager to see it all come together Rich
  8. More wishful thinking to be sure, but wouldn't this be cool? Perhaps too large and esoteric a subject (like the Vigi) for any main stream company to take on, but, as Tony points out, maybe HpH Models or another limited-run firm might...someday. (image Wikipedia)
  9. For me, it's a single four letter word...Thud. (image Wikipedia) Yes there's the Trumpeter offering. But a new "state-of-the-art" kit, more accurate and with finer surface detail would really light my fire. Rich
  10. Hi Ben, You continue to impress us...the cockpit looks great! The laser cut parts and brass bits really do the trick. And you've achieved a nice 3-dimensional look to the panels, a key feature on Prowlers and Intruders. Well done my friend...can't wait to see more. Rich
  11. Great work Eric! You nailed the colors...looks just like the real deal. Rich
  12. Great build...I really like your cockpit enhancements, especially that landing gear handle! Rich
  13. These look great Ziggy...glad to see the catalog expanding. I count around 20 different decal releases in AoA's inaugural year - not a bad debut! I'll do my part to maintain consumer demand for your products. Rich
  14. Kage - nice find...and as others have expressed, it's good to see additional "aftermarket love" for the big Intruder. Vitali - Yes, please share with us your findings when your set arrives, as it's hard to appraise from just the one photo provided on the ebay ad. I'm curious as to how they address the engine compressor shroud discontinuity that Tony's photo points out. Harold - As to the reception of your quarter scale Intruder intakes...what can we say, other than sometimes you're just too good ! As far as using the kit provided parts, achieving a seamless intake is not too difficult, as these things go. The parts fit together well, there are no ejector pin marks or other blemishes to erase, and because the duct is open on both ends and not too deep, it's easy enough to address the seam with some filler and a dowel shaped sanding tool... Our own Petrov27 took this approach in his A-6A build http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=45170&page=7 while also cleverly engineering a better fit for the engine casing. If you're looking to enhance the engine stator/compressor face assembly, Profimodeller produce this photo-etch set http://www.profimodeller.com/detail/p32188-a-6a-external-details/. Rich
  15. Great photo Tony. And I'm curious too about the "double node" antenna front...first time I've seen this. If we're looking at a protective cover, then it must be asked why the cover is so shaped if not to conform to the underlying contours. Interesting. There was at least one other style of AN/ALQ-100 antenna head, a barrel shaped device employed on early EA-6B Prowlers as seen here (photo by Raytheon)... Getting back to Harold's replacement pieces; they look great, capturing the proper size and proportions of the conventional (and most widely employed) "paddle shaped" variation, as seen here (photo from web)... Rich
  16. Looks great Peter...you nailed the camouflage. Can't wait to see her finished! Rich
  17. Hi Barry, I "feel your pain" with regard to accurately depicting wire bundles. My past attempts (with both wire and finely stretched plastic sprue) have resulted in the "unbundling" you describe. Although I've yet to try it, perhaps coating the wire harnesses with thinned PVA glue or an acrylic varnish (like Future) would hold the strands together while still preserving some malleability. Just brainstorming here... As resourceful and talented as you are, I'm sure you'll find a solution Rich
  18. Looks fantastic Karim! I really like the attention to detail...flack curtain rods inside the canopy, corrected wingtip lighting, etc. Bravo! Rich Edit: Quick question...did the model require any additional nose weight (ballast) to keep from tipping?
  19. That's great news Barry...glad to see this one resurrected. I'll be watching with interest! Rich
  20. Thanks a bunch Wolf. I see that fellow Canuck (and modeler supreme) chuck540z3 backs these products too. That's all the convincing I need! Order placed. Rich
  21. Wolf, Lovely paintwork and attention to detail. May I ask about your wash technique? It's very subtle and realistic. Rich
  22. More outstanding work, annotated with thoughtful, detailed text and marvelous photography - a "gold standard" of sorts for the WIP format. I learn something new with each posting. This time it was the Sharpie tip - good to know about the chemical compatibility w/TETC. Rich
  23. Great looking Intruder Karim! You're a talented and efficient modeler (this plodding, snail-paced builder confesses envy!). Regarding the GRU-5 seats, there's another option in RetrokiT https://retrokitonline.net/product/gru-5-ejection-seats/. Being a European based firm, their products might be easier to acquire. Not trying to sway you - whatever you decide, the finished model is sure to be a stunner! Last summer, I took these close-up photos of the GRU-5...feel free to "right click & save." http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f105/Rbrumm63/oakland%20aerospace%20museum%20JUN2015%20074_zps0wjfweqk.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f105/Rbrumm63/oakland%20aerospace%20museum%20JUN2015%20073_zpsf7pcfalb.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f105/Rbrumm63/oakland%20aerospace%20museum%20JUN2015%20080_zpsisweg5mf.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f105/Rbrumm63/oakland%20aerospace%20museum%20JUN2015%20082_zps9zrl2fwn.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f105/Rbrumm63/oakland%20aerospace%20museum%20JUN2015%20075_zpsyk2cyw7o.jpg Regards, Rich
