HpH is like a politician making campaign promises; don’t hold your breath.

A SPAD Xlll with an engine would be great since a lot of SPADs had the side louvers removed and replaced with screens. I never could figure out why no one wants multiplace airplanes. That was what I found refreshing about WnWs.

It would seem that Sir Richard didn’t think that the French were even in the War. He only produced the one French plane that was heavily used by the US in 1918, even if he did make a Salmson in French markings.

What I really loved about WnWs amongst other things is that I already had a late Halberstadt CLll, but wanted another RE.8, but the Duelist I just got, had another late CLll. Well the WnWs sprues have the parts for both versions, so all I have to do is follow the online instructions and build an Early CLll.

Actually, I had read that some pilots could use the RE-8 as well as any other two seaters, even Btisfits. I guess the bad performance rumors came about because it was so ugly. I consider it like the rumors that canaries were put in the wings of longhorns and shorthorns. It the canaries escaped, that meant that a wire had come off.

Yeh I thought the same thing, What is point of listing at quadruple the going price? I felt like emailing to ask if they were on drugs.

I’m sad for you guys and gals who wanted the WnWs Dr-1, but believe me, thanks to Eduard, Pheon, and Aviattic, Roden can be made into decent Dr-1s. And if Pheon holds true to their promise, you’ll be able to make any Dr-1 that you desire.

Hobbyboss bought the full Tristar AFV range some years ago when the company disappeared. So, they already purchased dozens of molds belonging to another company...

Fred Jack reacted to LSP_Mike in Trumpy vs. Revell Wildcat
Good point. I think that over the years Trumpy, while very prolific has come up short across the board. Since I build 1/32, my comments pertain strictly to our scale, and mainly props. Comparisons over the years have pointed to many of the older, original kits being as accurate, or more accurate in shape, outline and geometry. The older kits still build up well, and over the years have seen many fine builds at shows all around the world.
The Revell Wildcat also has stunning boxart.

I am building a respectable French force. It’d be nice to have more French two seaters and bombers. I have this huge book on the French Airforce Of WWl, and what models I do have only take up about a dozen pages of this book. I appreciate the two Salmson kits, and the Morane Saulnier, and I love Nieuports and SPADs. We even lost the only Company making the only SPAD Xlll, but the French Airforce was so much more, but looking at my shelves, you wouldn’t think so.

Actually, if you look closely at the decals with a magnifying glass, the small decals for the various parts say NIE 17. The only surviving Nie17 ln Brussels also says NIE17 yet the SPAD says Xlll, just like my references. I think it’s because all the SPAD Xllls has no other versions whereas the Nie17s had an A, B, and C version due to the armament differences. Nie17a had a Lewis fun on the wing. The Nie17b had a vickers on the nose. The Nie17c had both Lewis and vickers.

I know I’m kicking a dead horse, but in my 60 years studying WW1 aviation None of my references nor I have ever heard of Nieuport numbers being Roman Numerals nor any other French Aircraft except SPADS.

Fred Jack got a reaction from Out2gtcha in 1:32 Douglas A-26 Invader from Trumpeter/Hobbyboss?
When I was a teen I the ‘60s, I saw an A-26 parked with a B-25J at the Detroit City Airport. Talk about cool. The A-26 model may not be perfect, but how many of us are going to be able to tell. It was not all that common of an airplane, even in 72 and 48th scale, so I just might have to have a Havoc with a Mitchell.
