So many aircraft releases in the so called 'dead hobby' these days - easy to lose track of, I know!! ...

    * Infinity announced the 1/32 Val ... and because of (obviously) a LOT of feedback - decided to work on the Kate as well.
    * A few months back Border announced a 1/35 Kate ... as yet no Val has been announced in this scale.

    Hope that helps?

Hi everyone and a Happy new Year to you all. Many many thanks for all your well wishing and prayers. Six weeks ago i had cysts in my right hand drilled out/cleaned up and 5 metal pins drilled into various bones. Two days ago the plaster cast was removed and the fantastic news is that the operation confirmed that there is no trace of Kienbock Disease and so the diagnosis I had in January and in August of stage 1 KD were incorrect. This is just wonderful news and I am so relieved. Sadly however the last 6 weeks have been torture as the median nerve continues to be irritated and more so when under the pressure of the cast and so I now need a fourth right hand operation in the form of a 'hypothenar fat pad flap' - basically fat removed from a part of my arm and coated around the irritated nerve so it can glide correctly. This has a lengthy recovery time and then there is the same to do on the left wrist so I am not out of the woods yet! I hope however before the next op to be able to do a little work and get ready for the Moson show here in Hungary so that is all from me for now - so to recap I am still in constant pain but great news is that I do not have KD and that the next operation has a 93% success rate with immediate pain reduction so I am feeling very very hopeful. Hoping you are well, John.

I’d suggest that might be just because it’s a mock-up. They probably just want to promote this G variant and get the preorders going - but feed some anticipation for the future boxing at the same time … I think that they just haven’t tooled up the moulds for that section yet.

I’ll need to check my references when I’m back home from work in a week or so …

… but I’m fairly certain that the engine upgrades to the Wright R-2600’s that occurred fairly regularly during development would not have effected the shape of the nacelles too much - so a win there!!

There were no huge external shape changes - apart from the turret as previously mentioned - although the amount, location and type of armament situated in the solid nose’s would vary depending on the variant … If you were trying to recreate an earlier Boston the glazed area at the front has a lot more framework.

Personally, I can see the AM guys going nuts with the possibilities available here for resin conversion sets!

In short … there’s a little bit more to just cutting the turret flange out of the fuselage … you’d need to rebuild that area and create a glazed canopy … probably re-equip the interior in that area - source the correct defensive armament and ensure your nose had the correct layout … but otherwise- yes!

    109's ...

E-1 ... Eduard is your only bet ... Which is ok, because apart from the cowl fit (easily fixed with a couple of tabs and a little patience) and the wing slats (again not super difficult), there's nothing super noticeably wrong.
E-3 - E-7 ... Cyber Hobby is the clear winner - because it's the most accurate ... but especially with the level of detail and fit/finish in the box ... Eduard is not too far behind ...
Trumpeter has some shape issues (not anything to get overly dramatic about, really) - BUT the kit has a lot of detail and the fit is excellent.
F-2 - F-4 ... Hasegawa is your kit ... If you want it someway accurate it shape ... Trumpeter also make an F and while (as with all their 109 kits) it will fit together well and has plenty of detail, it also more closely resembles a G-2!!
G-2 - G-14 ... Hasegawa is the most popular choice here again - it isn't without its shape issues, but most tend to think that what is there is either acceptable to leave alone or easier to fix.
Trumpeter make them all except the G-4 and G-14 (as of writing), again with some nice detail and excellent fit - and while shape errors are to be found in all kits - a lot of negativity can be found expressed towards the errors Trumpeter has made with theirs.
Revell has more recently released a G-6 ... The most positive element for this kit is the pricing and the nice detail ... although there have been some questions raised on the engineering of some parts - and some rather obvious shape errors.
Most of these are a relatively easy fix with a little help from your AM friends. Interestingly, Revells 'Erla' G-10 is the only game in town - but there are those detractors that are critical that Revell didn't capture the shape of the Erla front end correctly.
Again ... AM seems to be absolutely everywhere for G types (including a corrected front end for the Revell Erla G-10) ... No one company has one that is near enough to 'spot on' ... Personally I hope Tamiya jumps in to solve all my wishes at some point! - A guy can dream!
K-4 ... Hasagawa is the closest - in shape at least. Trumpeter make one - with the usual pluses and minuses listed above.

    190's ...

Although Revell has recently jumped into the game with a new tooled F-8 and A-8 (nightjäger) which are pretty accurate and well detailed ... Like their recent 109 kits, there are a few questions raised about their engineering of certain parts.
It seems to me to just be an overenthusiastic approach to detailing ... and most issues in that vein can be dealt with using the myriad of AM released since the kits came out.

Until their arrival, Hasegawa's newer tooled kits (or their Revell re-boxings) were the only kits for A-5, 6, 7, 8, F-8 and D-9 ...

Likewise PCM did the earlier A-1, 2, 3 (all options in one box) in a multi media kit ... As with any limited run kit it will give you a decent kick in the pants if you're not switched on to taking your time to ensure correct fitting.
But for all that it finishes off quite nicely.

Zoukei-Mura has had the full FW.190 line up in development for a number of years now ... I don't know how far they are along ... but there's been some recent CAD drawings released ... I, for one, intend to collect the lot when they eventually make it to market.
They currently have a TA-152 out also which is nice ... PCM having the only other release (albeit with the same caveats as listed for the A-1-3 kit mentioned above)

The first Dragon release was the C-7.

The instructions were as dodgy as a $3 bill ... but the kit itself was A+ ... dimensionally accurate, great (while restrained) in detail, with a nice finish due to excellent fit ...
So if you followed the modellers dictum of - measure/dry fit thrice, cut/glue once - you'd spot the errors in the instructions well before you ended up looking like a noob!
... and all without the hassle of trying to make erroneous parts fit!

Several people developed an "errata" sheet of notes while building it ... probably the best example being Brett Greens' on the Hyperscale site.
Honestly, though?? ... of all the things to possibly be wrong with the kit - the instructions (as hard to work through in places as they were) are a storm in a tea cup!

Dragon ... being very receptive of feedback, correctly amended the instructions for future boxings ... AND for reissues of the C-7 boxing.

Since Revell (using the Dragon plastic for their release) made their own instruction sheet, their boxing was a non-issue ... and I'd have every confidence that Hobby 2000 will present something similar.

Buy with confidence ... the Dragon / Cyber Hobby Bf.110's and Bf.109E's are about as good as it gets in all departments.
