Worthy challenge or hideous waste of time and materials?

There's one on Ebay for $280 plus $18 for shipping. If a model company put out something like that the crying would never end, and rightfully so.

The kit itself is the most consistent variable in the equation. If I were to buy an original Monogram B-29 vs a new production one, I'd buy the new. The reason is the difference in part quality is negligible while the decals have improved tenfold.

I like lacquers and enamels. Use both equally. It's not a one, or the other, situation.

I don't really like to build the same subject over and over, but there are a few exceptions. I have about 10 F-4's of various manufacturers - I plan to build each of the available 1/48 kits. I also have one 1/32 of the Phantom. There two kits that I do enjoy building again and again and those are the Monogram Voodoo and original Airfix Buccaneer. I really love those two kits because they're fun to build, look great when finished, and have a large variety of paint schemes. I have 7 Voodoos (6 Monogram and 1 Kitty Hawk) and 8 Buccaneers (6 original mold and 2 new mold)

A Corsair or Wildcat in 1/24 would be awesome. Go nice with the Hellcat too

As much as I appreciate a manufacturer willing to do 1/24 kits, it really would be nice to see Airfix venture into 1/32. A Harrier series in 1/32 (similar to what Kinetic did) would be fantastic.

I still kick myself for not getting the Cutlass when it was available.

I built the new italeri/Revell kit and it was a really nice experience. The kit is nicely detailed, and although a bit challenging to get together, it came out great. I was never a big fan of the original Mirage, but this kit changed my mind.
