    Thanks Uwe
My stash also indicates that I will have to live around 160 years of age for it to be completely finished.
I've only ever built one Revell Spitfire. And I hated it And as for the bottom light; Yes, it is a color between orange and amber. It's not red.

    Cheers

What a great build thread by one of the absolute masters!
I am debating right now if I should get this kit? The cost is not the issue but my stash...well I will need to reach 150 years of age if I want to finish it.
But then this Kotare Spit looks soo much better then the Revell MkII that I had started...and that is causing me pain, not because of how it buils but how is somehow looks odd.
Anyway, looking fwd to seeing this one done.

    cheers
    Uwe

PS: Are you shure about the buttom light being red?  The kits I built so far where all aclloing for a silver reflector.

Don't want to high jack your posts...just showing what it looks like after after closing the fuselage. Fitting was not easy but with a lot of dry fitting it finally came out ver nicely...

I know also have the G-10Erla set after it became available again...so that's also on the project list...
BTW...all my reseach on G6AS planes came to the result that those did not have the battery box behind the cockpit yet. Can someone knowledgabe comment or confirm that?

Great looking Zero...and an expensive one! But I think I have a picture somewhere of a A6M2 with type 52 wings...let me search. Are the MRP paints for the IJN available by now?

I’ll try to look at the upper wing moving inwards from the wingtip. First are the starboard navigation light covers. These should be clear blue, not clear green. The Zero used blue covers over a yellow incandescent bulb to provide a green light effect.
The aileron actuators are depicted below. Note that this is just a streamlined hinge cover; it is not an aileron balance arm.

I think I posted my notes on the gun bay window elsewhere on LSP, but I’ll include them again here for the sake of completeness. Tamiya interpreted the window as a removable panel and so added a small latch just below it. This should be filled in.

The landing gear position indicators are shown below. To replicate the protective plastic cover on the indicator’s inner face I had the following idea. Make the indicator out of clear plastic sheet. Paint the outer side first with the white “squares”, then apply yellow paint over that and then add the final red layer of paint. The white and yellow will show through the clear plastic on inner side and the outer side will be its proper red colour.

I mentioned the gun camera hole in the fuselage on 1 January (page 5) and it comes into play here. The first 46 Zeros had the camera mount on the left wing. It was then moved onto the right wing. The mounting screws can be seen on the kit just in front (4 screw heads) and to the rear (2 screw heads) of the front spar at the base of the wing. A little further back from the front spar is a round access panel through which the control lead for the camera was fed back into the cockpit. I have seen this panel on a photo of a Mitsubishi A6M2. However, A6M3 32 c/n 3148 (made mid-August 1942) shows that by that time Mitsubishi deleted the panel on the wing and instead adopted the use of a hole in the side of the fuselage.  Nakajima did the same as can be seen by the image of A6M2 c/n 3471 (built early December 1942).

     Underside of the wing next.

    Hello colleagues!

There will be two versions of G-6/AS cowlings (differs by oil cooler gondola size), then G-14/AS fitted with unified G-10 lower cowling panel (large oil cooler and small "cheeks" on forward edge) and finally G-10 cowling version. All conversions intended for Revell Bf 109G-6 model, because it has convinient parts breakdown and almost all optional parts for 109G-serie, exept large wheels and fairings for them. That will give us good number of 109G additional variants. There are some questions through email regarding possibility of open engine compartment. We don't have plans to make such set in the nearest future. Other 32nd sets in a queue. MiG-21MF/SM correction on the way. The 109 sets price will be around 20 USD and they will be available for direct order by email and via Ebay.   Also we have plans to re-issue older 109 set but with some improvements.

    Regards,

    Alex.

After closer inspection you are correct sir. I had not noticed the issue until reported.
I have contacted paint shop and corrosion control. I was informed "with the flight schedule,They have had a heavy work load keeping these aircraft ready for the current operation." "So deal with it".
He also reported "They have been over worked and under paid !!!"

    Hello Uwe,

As far as I can tell the painting of the LG components was consistent throughout the production of the Zero. The problem with restored planes is they are only as good as the research that has gone into them. And there is the tendency for one restoration project to simply copy what was done on an earlier project.

    Hello again

Speaking of gear doors...I think on the A6M2 the colores to use are clear...but what about the later A6M5 that came in green/gray from the factories. Are the rules the same there? I see lot's of instructions and also restaured planes where Nakajima planes have the gear door insides in Aotake as well. Is that correct or should they be underside color like on the earlier A6M2s?

    thanks
    Uwe
