I received news from ArtScale Distribution, a model seller from Czech Republic. They already have the Kotare Spitfire and are selling them for 118,19€. Postage to Germany is 8€.

I haven’t even received a notification from Kotare that my preordered kit is prepared.

When I preordered the Spitfire directly from Kotare on 1st of October 2022 (that is almost half a year now that they have my money…) I paid 133.38 USD including postage. That’s 125€. And I must expect additional custom fees.

sorry, I know Kotare is a small company, but there’s something wrong here. Why have I preordered a kit and paid almost half a year ago when I can get it faster (and probably cheaper) from a retailer in my neighborhood?

I’ll cancel my preorder at Kotare’s right now.

    Andreas

I ordered mine within days of the start of the pre-order, which would make me think they aren’t shipping in order of pre-order. In fact I know one modeler in New Zealand who ordered a few months later who has received his kit.

I’ll wait for mine. I won’t give up the print and the exhausts.

For those that ordered direct from Kotare, they sent an email that said they should be shipping February/March time frame.  I ordered direct personally but I personally would not be that worried if it took another year.  However I suspect we will have our kits by Summer.  Since they added parts for the first round of delay, if they delay and add parts every three months, I should get the kit and need no aftermarket.:D

Even better, if they keep delaying and adding parts maybe we will end up with enough parts for two Spitfires!

  3. Looking forward to this build, lots of great information already. Wish it was released by WNWs, you guys would have made sure it was ready for the market.

I’m one of the first to get a Border Lancaster too, my wife bought me mine for Xmas. I bet I’m the first in the world to have one purchased by a wife.

I didn’t even know she knew the kit existed.

Well, I can say that Eagle Editions is soon to release a new decal sheet for the Mk VI Mosquito in 32nd scale. There will be two aircraft from 418 Sqn (Seid's TH-J among them), one from 305 Sqn and one from 23 Sqn. They are at the printers.

So what is the other 418 option? Or is it top secret and I have to call you and go out for coffee with you?

We should get the gang together.

Only got 4 more pages to go until we set the record for the longest Tamiya wish-list / uninformed speculation post!  Come on lads, keep at it!!

I'll do my part (again) - for the love of god, why can't we get a new tool P-51K???

I heard it was another multi-engine aircraft in 1/32, except this time it is one that will sell, a 1/32 Twin Otter.

At least there is some hope, Tamiya did say static model aircraft on their Facebook page.  Probably not the F6F, FW-190, or P-47 I want but it is some hope anyway.  I expect hopes to be dashed with some 1/48 aircraft, but the dream remains for now.

Where did they say static model aircraft? I only see static model.

I got a replacement clear parts set from Lucky, took about a month from receiving a reply from my initial email, to getting notification it was in the post, I'm sure they're working on it, but if I was you I'd send another email in the new year.

He is referring to badly deformed/molded internal canopy framing, not the clear parts all the focus is on. I mentioned my issue a few posts up, I think everyone should take a look at their other sprues. I inspected all of mine.

Mine had the rear part of the canopy, the section that goes around the rear astrodome badly deformed, like it was still soft when removed from the mold and sagged before solidifying.  It’s completely unusable.  I contacted Lucky Model months ago and they said they would send a replacement, but nothing so far.  I’ll probably just end up binning the kit.

That is likely a better description of what I had, it looked like it was removed from the mold too soon and it sagged into a blob. Although it was also cracked. It was definitely not square and was deformed. The new part is solid and nice and square.

It is so unfortunate Wing Nut Wings didn’t complete this kit. Border rushed it out.

Had Wing Nut Wings finished it, they’d have properly packaged it, provided great instructions, polished the clear molds, and shipped them with far better QC.

In regards to the instructions, Andy has an hour long video with all the required corrections and missed steps added. Also missing from the instructions are information on the optional parts for the variations between Mk I and Mk III.

  9. Received this kit as an Xmas gift from my son (via my wife of course). Wasn’t expecting it and I’m surprised she knew well enough to buy it.

I don’t have a damaged canopy. And I did examine the sprues, I think I will buy a Tupperware container to hold them. I don’t like the box. I did repack the same way Border had boxed it.

One thing I noticed, is my inner canopy framing is not molded well. It is a little deformed towards the back end. Has anyone else experienced this?
