  1. Some more work! I broke out the 1ManArmy masks to do the upper markings. These things work a treat! I’m going to have to buy these again for future builds. They turn out very crisp, and are relatively easy to line up. The tape is VERY tacky, so care must be taken to get the location just right before committing to it. Also, got the prop finally done. I am not 100% pleased with it, but I am fine with how it turned out. I added some chipping and scratches although I may opt for sponge chipping instead in the future versus doing a multi layer chipping process. Cheers!
  2. Took the masking tape off from the wing roots, and here is the result. Some touchups are needed here and there like under the left hand side exhaust area. Overall, happy with how it is turning out. I am going for a mix of what multiple sources claim for the paintjob on “Black 6”. Eagle Cals suggests the wing roots being Bruanviolet and Eduard suggests that the engine cowl was a replacement, hence the sharp demarcation between the colors. The nose spinner you can see on the table is giving me issues, and that spiral is quite the finicky thing to get right even with masks. I’ll probably have to end up hand painting the touchups on it, as no matter the masking tape, I always get bleed through with the airbrush. That’s all for now!
  3. One thing I noticed about the drop tank from the kit is that there are no decals provided for the “Keine Bombe” markings usually seen on Luftwaffe drop tanks. The 1Man Army Masks do not include a stencil for this either so I guess I will just forego them. Not sure if maybe late in the war the drop tanks were just plain?
  4. Managed to sneak in a little modeling time before headed out to work….just added some chipping to the drop tank. First layer was Vallejo RLM66 (schwarzgrau), followed by RLM01 (silver). I then sprayed Tamiya clear from a rattle-can (because I am lazy) and then used Vallejo’s RLM76 as the top coat. Then took some water, toothpicks, and a stiff brush to create the scratches and such. I’ll add some pastel washes, and maybe oil or watercolor pencils to make some staining. I will also add the tubing later on near the end stage of the build. That’s all for now!
  5. First off, excellent choice of livery. The “Battleship Grey” is awesome. Can’t wait to see the build progress! I agree with Derek, I think maybe cutting out the logo and painting the stripes/tail with paint may be a good move. I think you may also be able to find some aftermarket “Tulip” decals too! -Cheers
  6. Quick little update (again) Managed to find a tad more time to tighten up the demarcations. Also, I had to remask and spray the Braunviollet along the wing roots again, which is tedious to say the least. Lastly, I decided to make the fuselage green colors a bit more bright, as that is what the Eagle Cals profile suggests…..also, I like how it looks. I mixed some Vallejo RLM25 light green with RLM 83 dark green to get a middle ground green. This will also be used for the mottling as well on the fuselage and tail. Cheers!
  7. Thank you, much appreciated! I am excited to get moving along after starting this over a year ago haha
  8. Not much going on as of late. Finally found some time to spray some Graublau on the sides and tail. Needs some touch ups, as I was getting some tip dry on the airbrush which resulted in some splatters. Hopefully can get some more work done next week between work and life haha.
  9. You can also make a very thick pastel wash and that will probably be a lot easier to control. Also, since it will just be water, no harmful effects to paint!
  10. I’ve been having some pretty good luck with Vallejo Putty. Water based, sands easy, and you can just use your finger dipped in water to smooth it out.
