1to1scale
This was supposed to be a quick build, a slap together and paint Mustang MK.1 RAF 309 Polish Sqd, 1943. However, I didn't realize how much filling I would have to do to make it all fit. The next one I build I will use plastic card to fill some of the gaps rather than putty. Anyhow, it's finished. 1to1scale
Thank you, this was the first time I used oils, I still have some learning to do on that. There were a lot of things that will get fixed on my next Hobbycraft build, like thinning the trailing edges. Iain
Like that - a lot! Very difficult kit to track down here in the UK - looks good built to this standard. Iain mpk
Gigant
You have a true beauty there! I especially like the work you did on the exhaust horns! Thank you for showing us. mpk
mpk
Wow that looks really great. I had no idea Hobbycraft even had a large Mustang. Awesome job! Is Hobbycraft still around these days? Gigant and Jack
Gigant
Wow that looks really great. I had no idea Hobbycraft even had a large Mustang. Awesome job! Is Hobbycraft still around these days? They exist, but they don't do scale models anymore, which is a shame, because for the money, you could not beat them! I have a few of their kits in my "stash", and except for the 1/24th Spitfire Vb "Pinup Art", I cannot see letting go of them. mpk
mpk
Oh wow that's interesting. Thanks for the info'. I have a 1/48 MiG 17 of theirs. Nice to see one of their kits built up. Thanks for the info'.
1to1scale
Wow that looks really great. I had no idea Hobbycraft even had a large Mustang. Awesome job! Is Hobbycraft still around these days? They are gone, as far as a model company, however, there are still a lot of the P-51A and early P-51 around, the most common of the 4 models they produced. The A36 are as rare as hens teeth, I have seen a few built, but never one for sale. The P-51 MK.1a photo version occasionally comes up for sale. The kits are a good start, but could use an upgraded resin cockpit, resin wheel and exhaust stacks, and need some thinning on the trailing edges. red baron
