Figures are very well painted, but iff I Am allowed to make a comment, there lips are to dark and the eyewhite of the helmetsoldiers to big and pupils to small. Don't want to offend you but they look a bit like  zombies. Don't shoot me... Hides behind couch..

Way to go guys. I didn't even get to see the pictures before you all butchered them and made Jerry feel like crap. Constructive criticism is fine, but that was harsh. The guy has been MIA from this site for months, and that's the welcome back he gets? Dang.

Yeh ... to me Jerry is one of the true masters of figure work. Looking at his work, in macro photography, it's easy to forget that his figures are so good that they appear to be a lot bigger than they are. If details look exaggerated in closeup, it's worth considering that Jerry is trying to create a dramatic impression when a teeny tiny figure is viewed in the flesh.

All I know is, I'd love to be able to do figures like Jerry does. Jerry, I hope you post again soon, and I'd love to see your Wake Island dio.

Jim

Hey Jerry, could you post them back please.  I don't think that Theo was trying to be offensive. You have your style that makes your work unique and I am really interested to see  your newest creation.

Cheers

Martin

I've seen OP's works in other threads and when it comes to figure painting -- he's second to none. I don't read Theo's comments as any but constructive criticism. To think anyone "butchered" his works is plain ridiculous. IN My Honest Opinion.

I'm not sure why anyone can't read that Theo's comments are made with a certain level of discomfort -- that's fairly obvious. No matter how established or "good" I become, I hope no one pulls back his/her comments based on honest personal observation/examination.

If you have an issue with criticism and why it was given -- let me know, so I don't comment on your postings!

Saw the title and thought cool something up my street, I never got to see it though :crying:

I cannot believe some of the comments though. It makes you not want to post some of your work. I had been pondering putting up the Dino I am working on too.

Dodgem has hit it on the nail.

OK,

I deleted my ill thought out original come back post. I will never ever seem to learn to not post when I first get the "burn" over something I read.

There are a large number of guys on this site I really admire and have come to know over the years and I am posting this because of them. I have many fond memories about this website as it is the first one I ever participated in,etc.

I am currently having an inward battle over whether to continue modeling at all as I find myself loosing interest in it. Mostly because I am now an old man and all I want to do for some reason is shout "get off my lawn". LoL

What has happened though is I go on the net every day on other sites mostly,as I don't build a/c any more and I post comments under someones' project always with a word of encouragement or even if I see somebody get no response because I suppose the work is not "good enough" for the usual posters on those sites to type a comment. In other words my bent is generally encouraging.

I take offense not when someone tells me something about my painting style or accuracy of type of equipment or things of that nature but over comments about the overall concept. THAT is when I take offense because that is ME !!  So when someone tells me the painting is well done but doesn't like how the eyes are painted then well...that for me,is taken to heart. I could say,hey man,I love the assembly skill and airbrush work on that Me262 and those decals are perfect but why did you make the mistake of building that plane ? What were you thinking ? I see that as comparable here. So yes,I am sensitive about that. I admit it. Now in 1/35 scale those little men are less than 2 inches tall with the face being the commensurate size to match and so also quite small. I know that lots of beginners make the mistake of the pop-eyed look and that is fair but the wide eyed look here was deliberate,as how else do you display the "bayonet charge face" in this,or any other, scale? The guys that had bayonet training will know what I mean about the "war face".

I think the more I type here the muddier it gets so hopefully my old friends on the site can get some understanding out of this anyway, except Geoff,of course,as he is without understanding, and usually cannot be understood!

  Happy modeling guys.

Keep in touch Jerry,  good chating with you on PM.

Don't be a stranger just because you are on a dry spell.  I have been also, I haven't been in the modeling room for months, I am too focused on setting up my manufacturing plant
