Fw-190A3, 3./JG 2 (Hptm. Hans Hahn)

Hi guys. This is my first topic here. I've been watching this forum for a long time, but I don't build large-scale models. I prefer 1/72 for aviation and 1/35 for vehicles. I was inspired by the work of the Fw-190 A8/R8 by Sasha As. It won't be fast, but I hope you enjoy it.

I have this build kit. And I got guns by Master.

But I want to build A3's variant in Tamiya's kit 61037

First I installed the wheels bay. I cut the plastic incorrectly and cracks formed. I will remove them later. It was also difficult to install the bay in the center.

I was upset when I found a  stumps on the cockpit floor for his legs. So I made elements that, in general terms, repeated the original. I will install leg bindings after painting.

Eduard's photoetch is often flat in cases where it is not. I made a handle instead of a flat piece.

Engines are always my headache. Only if you are building a large scale model  you are not be cut with a scalpel and your desk will not be covered in your blood when you remove the pushers of cylinders.

I had made the pushers out of copper wire.

My set is A4, but I want A3, so I had made new panels with holes.

I did the Tamiya kit 20 years ago. So fine it’s the only plane from a dozen 1/48 builds still on the shelf. Kinda needs a dusting tho! I recall not liking it until the decals hit the scene. I did not get the rooster at the right angle. Always bothers me! Enjoy the build. You are going to town!

Hey everybody! Unfortunately my progress is a little. I installed few photoetched elements. The belts' binding I made from wire. I didn't fixed them. I will glue them and another details after painting. And I made the oxygen's regulator. I didn't find good photos its, but I think this isn't too important if I made a mistake. I also made the walls of the pilot's seat thinner, but they too fat that real.

I want to show my small progress.
A3 have a different kind of rudder frame and sagging of metal canvas than A4, and I decided to make it. I'd copied painting instruction for Tamiya's A3, cuted and glued on Tamiya's clear plastic. I'd made windows and cuted on the contour. I leveled the surface on kit's plastic and glued my new detal. I removed the excess thickness with an abrasive on a sponge. Unfortunately, I can't take a good photo and show you this, but I can feel the bumps. I don't want to make them too deep and I hope they show up better after painting.

Hi everyone. I said above that I don't have enough time to progress quickly. But I'm in a business trip right now and I was able to do a little.
I installed side panels and clean up.

Before my business trip I whittled panels of control and covered with surface primer. They don't look neat. But they look better that Hasegawa had did this elements. In future I will change the making technology of them.
