Azgaron
Thank you! A bit of a favorite here too! That shouldn't be so hard! Håkan
Azgaron
All "bottoms" done. Just the actuators and lids left to finish. Thinking a bit on how to handle the main wells. Adding stuff to an empty wheel bay would have been easier. Now I need to remove or hide what Revell have done and make new and hopefully better looking plumbing. The alternative is to just add a few cables and paint the rest as it is. I think the hinges need some attention as well. Either thinning them down, or make something a bit more like the real thing (if I can). A few other things I need to figure is loadout for D-day, compressibility dive flaps, fixed pylons, landing light position. Azgaron
I managed to figure out that the compressiblity flaps appeared on the J version and that L flew during D-day. The rockets on the "christmas tree" was introduced with the L version, but I'm not sure if they where used during the invasion. Håkan

Håkan Yes, the dive flaps became standard equipment starting with the J-25 models. As for rockets, I do not know if they were specifically used on D-Day itself, but they were most certainly used for a lot of ground attack missions in the latter half of the war in both theaters until the end of the war. You'd have to check on specific units to see if they used them, though. Azgaron
Alain Gadbois
Nice progress Hakan! For the gear bays I would just add detail over and I'm sure it will look fine in the end. Your decision! Alain Lee White and Azgaron
Azgaron
Thanks Tim and Alain! I have to see if I can find that info somewhere. Could work! I'll see what I do and how it turns out! Håkan
Mr b
Wow i am just seeing this now. Great work. I had this kit and I know wht it takes to make it look great. i chicked out and sold mine away. Some real nice working going on here rgds Azgaron

Azgaron
Gonna try and build up the tire shoulders a bit. Luckily i have the left over ones from my other kit to experiment on. I'm gonna add some Milliput and sand them to shape. If they turn out nice, I'll use them instead. I started out gluing the wing parts, but I need to figure how to do the landing light as it sits on the wing front edge on the L version. It's no problem filling the hole and taking out a new one on the wing edge, but size and placement would help to know. I also need to find something to use as glass. Maybe a cut and shaped clear plastic rod will do. The placement and size of the dive flaps would be good to know as well as fuel booster pump. I also need to make pylons too. For some reason there was no load at all to this kit. The other one had both drop tanks and rockets. Nacelle front ready. I did a test and cut som plastic to replace the hinges provided by Revell. Hopefully it'll look a bit better! The real hinges are a pretty advanced construction that I don't like to replicate, unless it would have been provided as etched parts. I used parts from my Trumpeter kit as template for parts in the wheel bay. Some plumbing is planned too. The engine room has finally got some color. Need to touch up it a bit. Then I can mount the engine and assemble that side of the body. I almost forgot, but I recieved the book with decals I needed today! Looks like I have enough to the other one too. Wicked Woman maybe! Azgaron
I've finally got the engine in place. And the front. There was some fit issues that I had to take care of. Had to sand down the exhaust pipes a bit on the front side, and the nacelle front had to be fixed too. Not perfect, but nothing a little putty and sanding can't fix. The stabilizer halves glued. No Revell copyright logo on this one, and I haven't seen anyone elswhere either! I cut a bit plastic to fill the hole for the landing light. The wheel wells got some plumbing. I added those plates and actuator to the front of the bays. Does the tire push on those when the gear goes up and closes the doors? Or is it just protection? Both booms ready for assembly. I used filler to cover the rest of the lamp hole. Might need to add some more filler. Test fit of wing and mid section over the left boom. Looks pretty ok but I'll see how it works when I glue the parts for real. Once that's done it'll look like a plane. I then need to sort weights to get it stand on the ground correctly. I now need to locate where the landing light should go and also the dive flaps and fuel booster pump. Azgaron
Thank you Fanes! I used my Trumpeter kit as template for some things like the landing light and dive flaps. What is the "normal" position of the dive flaps when on the ground? Need to figure how to do the fuel booster pumps and wing pylons. Håkan

Alain Gadbois
For the landing light you could use a bit of clear plastic from CD cases as it is very thin. Not too difficult to cut and sand to a circle shape. Nice work! Alain themongoose
