CATCplSlade
Ordered one last night from Hannants for less than the Special Hobby web site even with shipping added, which was also less than what I could find on ebay.

Muddi
Thanks for the replies! Helps a lot! I put the decals on. Decals are printed by Eduard and they performed really well with Microsol. Only the carrier film was a bit thick... WIP_Yak-3_025 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr WIP_Yak-3_026 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr WIP_Yak-3_027 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr The plane I chose was "White 1" flown by Rene Challe. I found a pic of it here: Source: http://s822.photobucket.com/user/PopsBoS56/media/ReneChalleNiemen35-big_zps05864266.jpg.html As this particular plane is not included as an option in the kit, I had to cut the kill marks from the decal sheet, so that there are 8 victories shown. And I needed to paint the markings on. I decided to paint the lightning markings too, as I feared that the decals are not opaque enough and would show the camo demarcation underneath it. Uncarina
Great work! How did you avoid pulling up the Red Star decals when you masked the fuselage? Cheers, Tom

66misos
Hi Nico, are Mr.Paint colors so bright or only some photos are too bright? What is the color of the background, black, grey? On some photos it looks black and Mr.Paint colors dark enough, on other photos the background is grey and Mr.Paint colors look too bright. I am just curious. Following pictures could help you with weathering/chipping - note open/removed panels during standard maintenance and blanket on the wing root to prevent surface damage: Regards, 66misos Uncarina and quang

I need to reconsider the heavy chipping on the wing root... The background is black. The colors are darker than they appear.

Bruce_Crosby
Hi Guys, My Yak turned up today and I've cut some parts off the sprues for a test fit and a play. Going back a page I saw Martinnfb's colour pic of the nose and angled the stbd side fuselage to match. A bit of squinting and you know what? It all lines up! I know, I know, there's bound to be something wrong somewhere, but it's pretty nice straight out of the box and guess what? It's a Yak! What's next, a LaGG? Fingers crossed!
