  1. Well, the law prevents propaganda using the central symbol of nazi ideology. Nothing wrong with that. I support this, even if it means that a niche group of plastic modellers are not allowed to show some small stickers publicly.
  2. Thanks guys for reviving this old thread... Really small dots of gel CA, avoiding the usual frosting. Out2gtcha said it.
  3. Thanks for the positive feedback and adding it to the website. Nico
  4. @Simon, Peter, Chris: Thanks for the positive comments! I took one for you Mosquito_PR_IV_09 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr Thanks. Please feel free to publish it. Thanks for the comment. The windows for the cameras in the forward bomb bay are included in the kit. All you have to do is to open up the bomb bay parts. I glued a piece of black painted sheet styrene behind it, so you cannot see through the bomb bay. There are no cameras in the kit and I did not build any... As for the camera windows beneath the rear fuselage and on the port side: I drilled them out, black painted sheet behind it and a circle of clear plastic into the hole. I encountered some problems and ended up painting the windows black + some coats of future. Nico
  5. Hello, I show you my recently finished HK Models Mosquito that I built as a photo reconnaissance bird. The model was a pleasure to build! I used a Eduard cockpit set and wheels. The few decals are from EagleCals (national markings) and Ventura (8 inch code letters). The color is RAF PRU Blue from Mr. Paint. 6. Thank you all for the feedback! @Kevin: Anytime! Thanks!
  7. Hello, finished the Special Hobby Yak-3. Markings for "White 1" flown by Rene Challe, Normandie-Niemen Fighter Regiment, Autumn 1944. Pictures of different phases of the build can be seen in the WIP section (http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=64453&page=1). Colors from Mr. Paint. Its a good kit and fun to build! 8. After a month hiatus I was finally able to finish the Yak! Put together the remaining small pieces and replaced the solid-plastic navigation lights with drops of Microscale Kristal Klear: WIP_Yak-3_042 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr Painted the darker shade around the tactical marking "1" and added some scratches with watercolor pencils: WIP_Yak-3_043 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr And here she is: WIP_Yak-3_044 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr Thanks for following this build-report and for the many helpful advices! Nico
  9. Filled in the nonexistent panel line. Fixed the canopy and built canopy guide rails on the cockpit sills out of plastic strips. Weathering by post-shading and panelliners from Ammo and AK. Decided I leave the wing root chipping as is, did not want to strip the paint and paint again. I hope I will finish her next week. Nico
  10. Oh, thanks for mentioning the panel line. As it is quite prominent, i'm going to fill it. I hope I can manage to restore the paint job afterwards... Tamiya flexible masking tape! Easy to mask curved surfaces with it.
  11. Todays topic: Self-inflicted problems! Fog on the inside of the canopy. Filling the seams with super glue may not have been such a good idea, even with a canopy dipped in future: WIP_Yak-3_032 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr Decided to cut it open, clean it from the inside and to replace the sliding hood with the second canopy part that was in the box: WIP_Yak-3_033 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr WIP_Yak-3_034 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr Cleaning the canopy from the inside was no problem anymore. But got myself into the next problem: The rear canopy cracked while I cut open the middle part... No way to solve this, but to replace it: WIP_Yak-3_035 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr This time I glued it with Micro Kristal Klear: WIP_Yak-3_036 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr Now I have to clean the joints (again), mask (again) and paint it (again). In between cursing and dealing with the problems above, I assembled the prop: WIP_Yak-3_037 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr Nico
  12. Thanks for your help! I need to reconsider the heavy chipping on the wing root... The background is black. The colors are darker than they appear.
  13. I sealed the decals with tamiya clear first.
  14. Thanks for the replies! Helps a lot! I put the decals on. Decals are printed by Eduard and they performed really well with Microsol. Only the carrier film was a bit thick... WIP_Yak-3_025 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr WIP_Yak-3_026 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr WIP_Yak-3_027 by bastelnvormbalkon, auf Flickr The plane I chose was "White 1" flown by Rene Challe. I found a pic of it here: Source: http://s822.photobucket.com/user/PopsBoS56/media/ReneChalleNiemen35-big_zps05864266.jpg.html As this particular plane is not included as an option in the kit, I had to cut the kill marks from the decal sheet, so that there are 8 victories shown. And I needed to paint the markings on. I decided to paint the lightning markings too, as I feared that the decals are not opaque enough and would show the camo demarcation underneath it.
