MustangManiac
Here's the shot of the original tail code. What do you guys think did I match it well in size and location with the stencils? Brady

MustangManiac
Hello everyone, Just a quick update, I got some corrected masks from Randy Saturday for the red portion of the insignia on the fuselage, but didn't have the opportunity to use them yet, because Saturday was my wife's birthday. Gotta keep the priorities. I'll try to get them painted sometime this week so we can move on to the green camouflage. Cheers, Brady
MustangManiac
Hello Everyone, I got the corrected masks that Randy made me, put in place yesterday and got to paint the red today. You can see a close up that shows how the insignia will look with a white outline after I paint the red here. After the red: An overall shot while the red dries before removing the masks. That's what she looks like for now until I can mask off all the insignia to start applying the green. I'm considering spraying the whole thing with Future, insignias included, so if I need to polish some green off later I have the protective layer of Future to save my work this far. What do you guys think? Cheers, Brady Anthony in NZ, mpk and andromeda673
LSP_Kevin
Looking really good, Brady! A protective clear coat is not a bad idea. Kev
Shaka HI
Hmm...clear coat looks like a good idea, but I'm not sure if Future would be the best choice?

andromeda673
looks really good!!!! nice job,and can't wait to see the finished build. I think you nailed the weathering, the stencils, and the overall look. I'd be proud to put that on the done shelf
MustangManiac
Hello Everybody, Thank you guys for your kind remarks on my build. Now for a quick update. I took the masks off today to see my final results of painting the insignia on the fuselage. The right-hand side turned out better than the left side did, but that's due to me and being off a slight bit in my alignment of the two masks on top of each other. Here's the left side, I will have to do some touch-up on the white outline because of a bit of red overspray. And the right side: That's all for now. MustangManiac
Hello everyone, I'm back with some obvious progress this time. I started painting the green field camouflage today during some spare time I had. I was originally quite puzzled as to how I was going to apply the green camouflage, that's why I've kind of drug my feet at doing this part. I finally found a scanned copy of the 1/48 scale instructions for the Hasegawa kit of this particular bird online and enlarged it to almost the actual size of the Tamiya kit. I then used the printout of the enlarged size to do my best to draw the camouflage pattern on the right wing and fuselage side with a pencil. I then used the pencil markings like a stencil with the airbrush. After doing this, this is what the Zero looks like now: I'll do the same for the camouflage on the other side next. That's all for now. Cheers, Brady leoasman, mpk, 109 and 2 others
