That is an amazing build - really impressive. I have to try foiling at some point.

scimitarf1 got a reaction from mpk in Tamiya will never offer the following aircraft as LSP. Your choices.
Not so sure - the way the MkIX rudder has the antenna wire attachment point and the wing fillet is in two parts are curious.

Note how the main wing box is relatively clean. It is the bit the inside pylons attach to.

Very nice
Drove past the site of the Airfield this morning.
There is a housing estate now on that hill in the background

There is a very slight reduction in thickness. The wing is elliptical and the reduction inboard to maintain t/c is very small. The top is definitely flat.

Thank you everyone. Sorry I don't respond to each and every comment, because I find that doing so clutters up the thread and I'd be sure to miss somebody in the process. Rest assured that I read every one and my "Thanks or Like" to your comments confirms that- and they are much appreciated!
I suppose it could be done, but not with my skills. The upper wings are shaped wrong to begin with, mostly to clear the landing gear wells, so you would need to make the wells shorter top to bottom. No easy task, since just getting them to fit together properly is difficult already. If you could do that, the upper wings could be flattened, but then they wouldn't mesh properly with the fuselage, which would also need to be heavily altered downward. Last, the upper wings are too long to begin with as noted above, so making them shallower (flatter) would make them even longer at the back and none of the panel line and rivet detail would be accurate.
Of course the main reason not to bother is that 95% of the people that look at your model in the future have no idea that the top of the wings should be flat to begin with. I've been looking at hundreds of photos of Tempests for months now and I only figured that out for myself a few days ago!
Cheers,
Chuck

Great work on the dihedral - I have not seen another build that has fixed it.
Can I ask what it would take to get the upper skins horizontal?

Good to see this. I am making slow progress utilising the fuselage from a Tamiya Mk IX and this kit.

scimitarf1 reacted to red Dog in Fisher Sea Fury - Iraq
Hello gents,
My name is Olivier from Belgium. I'm a long time lurker on LSP as I do mainly 1/32 models but never actually posted a model.
I decided to post my first after completing my first Fisher model: the Sea Fury.
I read a lot of topics on this very forum while building this so many thanks to all previous LSP Sea fury builders, it was very helpful.
The model is mostly OOB save for minor modifications around the Hook bump and scrath of the engine innards as some cover behind the exhaust plates were omitted and I wanted to detail the inside.
Paints used were acrylic gunze H71&H72 for the top surfaces and Vallejo azure blue for the undersurfaces.
I traded the fisher decals for some hobbycraft's desert fighter.
Thanks for looking, any critic more than welcome.

On the wing thickness I really would not worry. I have just finished wrestling a Mono F-100 I to submission and comparing it with the Trumpy Hun I cannot tell the difference. The deployed slats, tanks etc obscure the lack of thickness.
I too had thoughts of performing surgery but not worth the effort in my opinion

Great stuff - I hope that this could be productionised!
Love your Tempest nose - have a couple of those ready to go.

Sensational Chuck!
As the guy who did the nose and radiator correction (Roy replaced the surface detail and Kerry did the prop and spinner) it warms my heart to see you using it. Not sure why the spinner and cowl aren't a perfect match...sorry about that .
The only thing correct about the kit nose was the thrust line. The correction was done with original factory lofts. There was a lot of changes to correct that part, some easily seen , others probably never noticed. But looking at the comparison photo of the front it is quite noticeable. It literally took months of obsession until I was happy with the shapes. You cant just make the opening and spinner dia smaller and 'presto'. That completely changed the 'look and feel' of all the contours behind it (I called them the cheeks behind the mouth). Then the rest looked terrible, so everything back needed completely reworking
Great work! Loving each update
Cheers Anthony

Spirit in the Sky is excellent but you may need something else for details. The Verlinden Lock on features the RAF F-4 including the J and I found that very useful

scimitarf1 got a reaction from Dragon in 1/32 F-105
the problem is the issue with the nose starts basically mid-cockpit rather then being just the radome.
The F-105 is so iconic it is a shame that there is no decent kit of it
