VintageEagle got a reaction from TenSeven in 1/32 Revell Fw 190 F-8 & A-8: Working on the wheel wells!
Good evening,
So, here I am. More than 20 years after I built my last model. Ever since I have been a keen follower of forums and magazines, but due to lack of a convenient hobby room I have never returned to modelling. Until last month when we moved into our own house WITH a hobby room all for myself
Some may know my book 'Captured Eagles Vol. 1' that I published in 2011. How time flies! I am still working on Vol. 2, but will definitely publish it at some point in time. Anyhow, my first try is with a Revell 1/32 Fw 190 F-8 kit and in addition some detail sets.
Since Fw 190 F-8 'White 48' was not only a central part of my first book, I will even have an original color shot of that aircraft to show in 'Vol. 2'! So, even though I find the Luftflotte 4 Schlachtgeschwader Fw 190 F-8 very attractive, I most likely will go for 'White 48'. 'White 48' was captured at Lippstadt, Germany, but was for some unknown reason later flown or transported to Namur, Belgium. Several photographs taken at both locations are known.
Please be gentle with me. I haven't put my fingers onto a plastic model for more than 20 years. Not a lot of progress to report in my first post, but I hope to show more progress soon.
Cheers,
Roger

Great progress Joel. The panels that you closed up look great. I know sometimes they don't always fit well and can be a real pain.

Hi Andy,
Thank you for your kind comments. It will still take a while to complete. I have been working on it constantly, but only made slow progress due to other commitments. But I have already a few completed and well researched articles about Do 335, KG(J) 55 Bf 109, Erg.KG(J), Ju 88 G-7, etc..

VintageEagle reacted to Jan_G in Revell Me-262 B-1/U-1 Nachtjäger
Thanks Roger for all these valuable details! Definitely for me its too late to change the panel and position of artificial horizon (dont want to spend more time with this build than needed). At least I have painted that nice looking instruments with boring RLM66
However all such informations will help other guys here who are not experts in Me 262 (like me )
now it looks this way

VintageEagle got a reaction from Jan_G in Revell Me-262 B-1/U-1 Nachtjäger
Looks fantastic Jan. I just bought the kit as well (my first one after a break of 20 years :-O ) and hope to be able to finish it this year.
I have been studying and researching the Me 262 for quite a while know and have thousands of wartime documents in my archive that I copied from various archives. With the risk that I am too pettifogging, I wanted to point out two details of the Eduard panels that are incorrect for the Me 262 B-1a/U1:
Eduard's blind flying panel is that of a bad-weather fighter variant with single-axis autopilot, where the large repeater compass was not in the same vertical line as the artificial horizon, but slightly offset to the right. The lower edge of the panel was modified with a curved edge. In the Me 262 B-1a/U1 both the larger repeater compass and artifical horizon were on the same vertical line and the lower edge was also modified, but with straight lines that were more angular than in the standard blind flying panel. This is confirmed by wartime photos.
The nice looking red and white circular markings on the engine instruments was a feature that could only be found in certain JG 7 aircraft. I have a wartime document of the Technischer Aussendienst of Messerschmitt that described this field modification by JG 7 incl. drawing of how they marked the different dial ranges with red and white for better and faster reading. Aircraft of other units did not feature this (at least I haven't seen them on any other unit's Me 262)

VintageEagle got a reaction from mpk in Revell 1/32 Me 262 A-1a already announced?
Hello all,
I assume that after their release of the two-seat nightfighter Me 262 B-1a/U1 Revell is going to offer a single-seat version.
Has Revel already announced it and if so, by when will it be available?
Has anybody completed the Me 262 B-1a/U1 already (pics )? What is your conclusion?
Cheers,
Roger

VintageEagle got a reaction from mpk in 1/32 Revell Focke Wulf Fw190 F-8 White 48........FINISHED.
Hi Andy,
I have published several photos of this aircraft in my 'Captured Eagles Vol.1' book and meanwhile was lucky enough to find a color slide that shows 'White 48' at Lippstadt. I have studied the colors and partially they are slightly different than what I described in Volume 1 (where I based the color interpretation solely on b/w photos). The photo will be published in my 'Captured Eagles Vol.2'.
This was a refurbished plane. Underneath the serial number on the tail a former serial number can be seen shining through.
Cheers,
Roger
