  1. And the build begins!

Although Legend's cockpit set isn't very detailed I decided to use it as it also provides side wall panels and of course ejection seats.

Preparing the plastic fuselage parts wasn't too complicated and only involved the removal of plastic from the rear and the coaming itself.

I realised the resin front instrument panel and coaming would need some support so I build up the sides with plastic strips.

The resin cockpit tub was quite a large piece but only needed just a bit of sanding to make it seat correctly in the fuselage.

I also build up the front wheel well in order to test fit everything. Some injection holes were covered with plastic discs made with a punch n' die set.

Everything went in place with little fuss!

The rear instrument panel was detailed up with some lead wire.

  2. Hi all!

One reason why my Corsair build has slowed down is that I have taken part in a Facebook group build.

The subject is the world famous F-4 Phantom II.

For my build I decided to use Revell's 1/32 F-4F kit to depict a worn out Greek F-4E SRA with

I will also be using the following aftermarket detail sets:

    • Legend's resin F-4E cockpit
    • Real Model's resin slatted stabilizers
    • GT Resin's exhausts
    • DEF Model's resin wheels and FOD covers
    • Eduard's placards
    • Airscale's dataplates and instruments

Thank you Peter! Glad you like it!  :)

The engine/prop work is great!! I really like the subtle weathering on the prop, look forward to seeing the rest of the build.

    Thanks Don!  :)

  4. Spyros,

I'm really impressed with the detail painting and ignition wiring. And the prop with the yellow hub really helps to add a little color to it. is that the Baracuda Ignition ring? It sure looks sweet. I have both the Birdcage and the -1A in my stash, and if it's an AM part, I need to order a few.

    Joel

    Thank you Joel!

Yup, the ignition ring is from Barracuda. It's quite easy to fit although I still had trouble putting through all the ignition wires.

I kinda gave up after doing the front cylinders.

The propeller colours were actually the reason I chose this paint scheme!  :)

  5. Hello all! Been some time since I had an update on the build.

Reason is I managed to mess up the outer wing sections but managed to track down replacement parts on ebay.

So the Corsair will be back on the bench soon!

I was also a bit busy with a group build and will upload progress pics of that here soon!

I did manage to finish the engine and propeller. The colour of the propeller was one of the reasons I chose this scheme as it provides an additional colour variation on top of the aircraft camouflage.

So here's some pics of the finished engine and propeller! More updates to come soon!
