    Hi guy's;

My name is Stephane (same a Stephen but french) Pelletier and this is my 1st build thread on this great forum. Been lurking for some time now, and i have finaly have the courage to start my own build thread.

I always wanted to build a Cf-188 from the 425 Alouettes squadron based in Bagotville, Quebec.
My little brother father in law was a Weapon specialist, navigator on one. I can't do his plane as it was a 2 seaters but still can build one from his squadron.

The plane i want to build:

I'm pretty new to scale model planes and never wrote any real build thread, also my first language is french so, please bear with me
I'm a real slow builder and have a tendancy of leaving build to start new one when i encounter big problems... I have currently have on the bench:
    a Tamiya F4U-1A Corsair,Tamiya P-51D (scared of alclad syndrome) a Revell BF-109 G6 and a Revell Spitfire Mk2a  + 1/35 armor, 1/48 planes etc... each in different build phase...

The kit i will use for this build is the Academy F/A-18A+

The after market i will use..

    Ares F/A-18C hornet wheel bays
Ares exhaust nozzles (not so sure after reading Chuck CF-188b thread)
    Wolfpack F/A-18A+ cockpit set
    Eduard f-18 placards
    Eduard f-18 exterior
    Eduard f-18 mesh set
    Eduard remove before flight (fabric)
    Rhino intake and wheel set
Scale aircraft conversion main landing gears (not to sure again...)
Canuck CF-188 Hornet Fip marking decals

For Doc's i will be using Daco, In detail&scale F-18A-B, Squadron signal fa-18 hornet, Chuck build thread on the CF188B and the internet.

I started cleaning the resin after market that i will use:

    Ares F/A-18C hornet wheel bays
Wolfpack F/A-18A+ cockpit set (generate huge amount of dust!!!)

Thats it for now, told you i'm slow

Any comment, constructive comments and tip are welcome
Just keep in mind that i build model for myself, relaxation and not for competition (never been in one) but i still want to do a good job...

    S.Pelletier reacted to Grunticus in Revell 1/32 Me262 A1 / A2 (kit 03875 of 2019)
Having focussed on Dutch military aviation for quite a few years with my modelling, I recently developed an interest in late-war German aircraft and other WW2 stuff. When I saw this new-tool 262 was available for € 30 in a modelling shop in Düsseldorf, I bought one (together with a ZM D0-335 A-12 and Revell He-162). I'm a bit late with a build thread since I am already well into construction. It will be finished as per the box-art, albeit with a different Werksnummer as I learned the one on the decal sheet in incorrect. Many thanks to Jennings Heilig for taking time to help me out and even provide a DXF file with the correct serial number 170061 so I can cut it with my Silhouette cutter.

The kit is very well detailed (especially for the price) and fit generally is good to very good so far. The exception to that is the gun cover door. I will display one of the two open and separated the panel with no problems. Getting it to fit in the opening however, is another story. The part is narrower than the opening by about 1.5 mm, and it's shape is warped compared to the fuselage shape. I had to battle it into position, which took me three attempts and two day. This because it would keep popping open. For now, it seems I finally got it, using stretched sprue, thin cement, Surfacer 500, and one pound of elbow-grease:

The level of detail is quite satisfactory:

I tried some re-scribing using a new set of tools I bought a while ago. Looking all right. I will be re-scribing various details on this one.

This is what the ' natural' fit of the wing root looked like (all sorted now):

I started on the landing gear as well. I will add details to the main gear legs myself. No one could accuse the Germans of designing flimsy landing gears :o) The gear on this kit seems very sturdy. More pics next time.

The instrument panel that comes with the kit. Not bad at all. For the He-162 I got a Yahu example which looks really lovely.

I’ve been around here for so many years but without posting a whole lot. I rarely do RFI as I’m so lazy when it comes to editing my non-working photography.
With that in mind, I thought I’d show a little slide reel of what I’ve built since being a member, both active and lurking in the hidey corners.
They're all on display on a huge, full wall, modular shelving unit.
In chronologically built order. (See how bad the first was compared to how much less bad the newer ones are.)

So here is today's progress, more work on painting smaller parts for the cockpit as well as laying down almost all of the Aviattic upper wing decals.

Lots of bits and pieces needing a little more work before completing and bringing together. Very happy with progress today.

Well Ben, it was an experience of a lifetime for me.

Made possible by......modeling. Our local IPMS chapter was asked to make models for a display at NAS North Island. All of us who participated were given an opportunity to fly out to a carrier. I jumped at the chance. Kind of sobering when you are filling out the next of kin form. Safety briefing...."we will only open the rear cargo doors if we are inverted in the water". Gulp!

The trap was actually no big deal. Spent the night on board the Enterprise.  Was on the LSO platform at night. "Don't worry,  if an aircraft buzzes the platform just jump into that net down there". Gulp!

Stood in the starboard catwalk while F-14s  and EA-6B's were launched. Noise so loud that the 2 bones in my arm were vibrating. When the Tomcat spread its wings for launch they were over my head.

Life moves on, the aircraft, the ship, and I.....all retired.

As usual, progress is slow. I have to finish a 35th scale AH-1Z for a magazine... Of course I was not able to simply build it but had to play around with my 3D printer which resulted in more work than initially planned.

Anyway, a bit of drilling and cutting was required to add the remaining APU exhausts. Looks a bit rough, but noting to worry about: A friend of mine has already CNC milled the raised frames which will be added around them later on.

Sadly, I have to cut and re-align the fuselage behind the wings again as it is not perfectly straight. That's the next thing to do. I'll keep you posted!

Here's what's holding me back at the moment... not super happy about it, but I have to finish it!

Thanks to Alfonso for some items he pointed out in Archers SBD-3 build, I've updated some items on my SBD-5. Removed the extra rear control stick and left the mounted spare on the port side. Painted the "gust lock" between the pilots rudder controls red and I also changed the rear outside flooring to look something like canvas on the rear of the cockpit. Probably need to weather this more to get a better look, still.

    Thanks for looking!

Working on some small stuff. First are the bombs. I thought that I was pretty smart so I dunked the bombs in future. What I didn't realize is the attatchment holes allowed future into the body so that everytime that I touched them future would leak out of the holes. So I had to drill a hole in the aft end of each bomb and set them up to drain. You can see a puddle of future to the left of one of the bombs. Why gloss the bombs?? I want to use the kit decals to add the yellow markings instead of masking and painting.

Also worked on the HVAR's. Painted the noses green.

Added some detail to the seat by shaping the headrest and adding the ejection pull ring.

And finally I added a flat black anti-glare panel in front of the windscreen. I also painted a solid decal black and added it to the wing root as a walkway.

    Slow progress.

I should have done this in the What-if GB, didn't think i would have it done by the end. It's the HK Models F.4 Meteor that will be done in Canadian colors of 414 Squadron. I'm using a Leading Edge sheet for a T-33. I've painted it with Tamiya AS-12 spray can and did some high vis panels on the wings and horizontal stab in red, top and bottom. The tail i did in red/black stripes. I still may do the front engine cowls in red/black divided into quarters.

Hope to finish this by years end, may be tight.
