A few months ago a package from WNW got lost(?) at the Queens, NY post office processing center.
It took a few weeks to get the US post office to agree it was lost but then WNW was able to send me a replacement kit. Which I got in about a week after everything cleared.
Yes, you will not get the replacement kit in time for Christmas. But you will get a replacement. Write to WNW immediately with the photos.
When I get a package like that I do not open it but I bring it to the post office right away and file a report. Then let the PO and the  sender fight it out.
    Good luck.

While it's sad that you won't have those kits for Christmas, SURELY you must have something in the stash or on the bench that can keep you occupied for a few weeks... If not, you could always postpone your celebrations!

If they are damaged, Im sure a quick e-mail to WnW with some accompanying pics would get you replacement kits, but again if that were the case, as you pointed out, that would still leave no joy for Christmas.

If the contents are not damaged, Im sure a quick mail to them with pics of the decals (or even boxes) that were destroyed would also get you a set of fresh decals and/or maybe even new boxes. You might be able to start a kit as you likely would not need any decals right away other than maybe some IP decals

I got a nice surprise from a friend of mine a couple of days ago. He is a bit of a Mossie fan as well and is really enjoying this build. He just told me he has just CAD'd up this in Solidworks ready to print for me in 1/24th!

He is a clever guy aye!!! He is also casting up some of my resin masters so I don't have to make multiple rocket stubs, prop blades and carb intake etc...

He said it was ok for me to post them on my build here, he's a top bloke for sure!

In the meantime I have been reworking the bomb bay

Just finished this one for a friend, last night. While not a horrible kit, I think that Hase's F4B is a better kit, now having built both. This one has a few issues and flaws (some of the flaws being my own fault, of course!) that kind of bug me. But, overall, I like the way it turned out. I used the LSM resin cockpit set and Yellow Wings decals. The rigging was done with EZ-Line and the lights made from clear sprue. I used the kit engine and added the plug wires from copper wire. The Disney "Big Bad Wolf" squadron insignia for VB-2 (on USS Lexington) was made on my computer, as were the prop blade logos and "U.S. Navy" decals on the underside of the bottom wings.  I should note that this scheme is technically a "what if", as I don't believe that Lexington/VB-2 ever used the BF2C, but I'm not sure and this is what my friend wanted. It still looks believable, however. The WIP thread can be found here: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=51485

    Thanks for checking in!

Soon will start engraving the fuselage and it needs to be closed up. This is a test shot of the new cockpit floor (the Aires one that was supposed to be used is bent like a banana)

Yes, large resin parts, mixed with very warm summer weather and packing that causes a bind can make for some real headaches.  Had an early Eduard kit that had a slightly warped main wing (WW1 biplane)  in process of correcting it, I damaged it beyond use!  The wing I scratch built ended up being many times nicer than the origional and taught me what I was capable of doing.

So far your build is coming along quite nicely and I like how you have solved a number of you problems.  Keep it up it will be awesome when done!

    Thank you!

One of the "major" problems of the Revell kit, first issued in 1969, would be the nose section, which supposedly would have to be replaced entirely with the nose section of a Hasegawa D. It is not the case however, the problem is the top cowling, and it is so easy to fix!
I made a resin copy of the Hasegawa piece, intending to use it. But looking at plans I noticed that it was too flat. The Revell piece looked better, but it was too narrow, 2 mm too narrow. An easy fix! Cut it down the middle and add some white styrene, and then putty it over! So, what do you think?

Like I said, a decent P-51 B/C in large scale is badly needed, so there is no double edged sword here.

The engine parts have arrived! Pretty happy with how they turned out. Big thanks again to my good friend Bekim who has helped me a lot with the engine CAD data. Next step is cleaning up the parts and cast them to get a second engine.

I've been neglecting this build as I really want to plan the final stages well and besides the Skyraider has been a big distraction! I've finally been able to lay down some paint on the beautiful Baracuda resin tyres:

It's been quite some time since I've been active on LSP and busy times are no excuse of course, so my excuses for that. My posting again might drop the overal level, but I have to play my role! Tonight, however, I've managed to finish a kit: Trumpeter's F8F Bearcat.

Very nice kit of a really cool looking aircraft. I added just a little detail; the open panel could use some. It truly was a joy to build and the decals are from the box. They went on like a dream, by the way. I used Tamiya and Gunze paint. The dark blue wasn't the easiest colour. It was very transparent and I had to put on about seventy four layers or so.

Enough of the bla-blah; here are a few photos.

This Bearcat is pretty high on its feet because of the propellor. Makes the gear a bit wobbly in the beginning, but it turns out great!

First layer was chrome, followed by a spunch of maskol and the dark blue. Shading was done with tire black.

A view on the other side:

Little close-up of the nose and the open panel:

The open panel edges are simple sprue with a plenty of holes that were punch in it. Only took me eight tests to get it exceptable.

Anyway, if you have one in the stash, build it! It's fun!

I hope you enjoy the result and I'll try to be back sooner (auch!)

    Nic

I moved on, and got both booms assembled. The fit here was good, but the top of the boom cover did need a bit of judicious sanding to get it to conform. Will have to do a considerable amount of re-riveting/sanding to get the detail back. Fortunately its not hard to do with the booms still removed from the fuselage.

I did not follow the instruction order here, and assembled both booms without the engine and firewall in:

After the booms were set up, I set them with the main fuse, to get more familiar with the size of the OV-10 in 32nd. I was surprised to find how large it actually is in 32nd:

I figured it would be easier to get the engine and firewall installed after the halves were fixed together. It did seem to not be a problem at all, as the engine and firewalls slip into the finished booms with ease. This means you can not only assemble the booms without the engine in, but you can also assemble the lower cowling and slip the engine/firewall in after getting things smooth, which is exactly what I'm going to do.

Engines are just dry fit here, and that fit is superior:

Back with more this weekend.................I hope. Modeling this next week, as K1 might stay "At the speed of life" as Im oncall and life just might get in the way of this so far, most fun build.

    Thanks guys.
Some more progress on the bucking Bronco................not a ton, but forward motion non the less.

I glued the outer wing sections together with Tamiya extra thin, and set them aside to dry:

I was going to attempt to glue the booms on after the outer wing sections, but as you can see the joint almost requires that you join the boom to the outer wing before gluing the outer wing to the inner wing:

I also sanded flush the rear troop/cargo door. The fit here OOB was remarkable with so many pieces coming together in this area:

While the wings continued to harden off, I assembled the turbines. I left off any extraneous parts that didn't relate to any of the center assembly that holds the prop hub as I am modeling my Bronco with the engine cowls closed. They are quite nice parts OOB and if you included the parts I left off, and did some nice paint work, even OOB an open engine could look good. Me personally I just like the undisturbed pretty (to me) lines of the OV-10:

Tewika reacted to dodgem37 in Cleaning An Airbrush Fluid Nozzle
I have read around the internet recommendations with which to clean an airbrush fluid nozzle.  Most of which seem to me to have the potential to damage because of the implements' rigidity, or tensile strength when compared to that of the nozzle egress opening.

So I offer my simple solution to any who may be interested.

This is an inexpensive 'striping' brush.  They make a handy nozzle cleaner because of their length.

    Sincerely,
    Mark
