  1. The X-15 landing I have actually seen. My dad was stationed there when I was younger and he took us out to the flight line to watch it return.
  2. WOW! That's awesome! I like inflight displays...in it's environment with the crew or pilot doing what they love! There's two inflight displays I'd really like to do. The X-15 landing just off the dry lake bed at Edwards with and F-104 chase plane flying wingman with it and a 48th B-24D in the smoke and fire over the Ploesti oil fields 1 AUG 1943. Oh...and an F-4 Phantom just taking off and the gear coming up...OK...three I'd like to do! Cheers....Ron
  3. WOW! That came out nice! "Put da spurs to her Wolfgang"!!! (Right Stuff in German)
  4. Love the IAF! Great job...how did you get that A model tail to sit right on the C model fuselage? I ask cause I wanted to make a F-16B out of one of my SUFA kits. Cheers...Ron
  5. I sure hope so! "Jumping like my Jack Russell"
  6. That L-100J is the company demonstrator for the "legacy" L-100 replacement. It has a carbon fiber wing box and those AE-2100 engines have a ton of power. I do not think the C-130E and for sure the MC-130 I flew could do that. I'm pretty sure they didn't have an igloo strapped to a litter stanchion for that demonstration. The C-130A fire bomber that had the wing box fail was here at Kirtland about 2 weeks before that accident. It's sister ship was here as well. We had walked through both airplanes and talked to the crews. After that accident the other C-130A was towed into one of our hangers and they did a wing inspection and it was fatigued as well. I work in the 415th SOS here at Kirtland with the MC/HC-130J. It's an awesome airplane that incorporates a lot of technology into the old 1953 airframe. They are still working on the TF radar for the MC and the AC-130J is coming online and it will be a lethal weapon with all of it's weapons. Cheers...Ron
  7. Beautiful! But...but...but...will the Revell wing fit the Tamiya mustang??? LOL!
  8. Those are great pictures! It's amazing how far the F-16 has come from the red, white and blue one I saw flying at Edwards AFB in 1975! Who would of thought the "light weight fighter" would evolve to this heavy hitter!
  9. Wow...that looks great! I bet it is a really big attention getter!
  10. Looking really good! Gun belts are very realistic!
  11. Great build! I can see Col. Turner jumping out without his parachute! (Where Eagles Dare)
  12. That's a nice looking Phantom! That green tail color match looks almost perfect.
  13. A B-26 Marauder and an "On Mark" A-26 Invader that served in SEA!
  14. I'm 61 and have the 32nd B-17F and B-25J strafer plus the 1/200 USS Arizona to build....and several others to build as well! I don't buy green banana's anymore!
  15. I was at Travis in the 22nd MAS from 1975 to 1980. The A model was new still and in the gray and white paint with the blue line. We had a ton of gear trouble back then but they eventually got that worked out. Then went to Altus AFB, OK in 1980 to 1989...was in the C-5 school house from 80-83 then went to the 443rd MAW. Picked up several B models new at Lockheed and we flew them to get the "bugs" worked out then deliver them to Dover and Travis. I was always amazed how big stuff we could haul in that airplane! Downed a few beers at the Brown Fox at Dover! Flew with some guys who were in the C-5 program at Charleston and then moved up to Dover. I left the C-5 program and went to Joint Special Operations Command from 1989-1993 and then went to Kadena AB, Okinawa from 1993-1996 in the MC-130P Combat Shadow...Came here to Kirtland in 1996 as the program manager loadmaster and retired in 1999 after 24 years and over 6000 flying hours. Had a great time in the "big jet" and it's sad to see those old tails that carried me all over the world being cut up in the Arizona desert. Cheers...Ron
  16. That was a C-5A/B with the TF-39 engines! TRT Standing takeoff...made many of those in my 14 years and 3500 hours in the "big jet". The re-engined M model has a ton more thrust and would of jumped off the runway. That was cool to watch from the spectator point of view now! Cheers...Ron C-5A/B Loadmaster 1975-1989
  17. WOW! That's impressive! Your spray booth is impressive as well...could easily handle a 1/32 B-17. Cheers...Ron
  18. John...Nice SBD! I read the book "Pacific Payback" about the USS Enterprise and the SBD squadrons up to the Battle of Midway. Was a fantastic book...bought a SBD-3 as well as decals for an Enterprise bird. Was amazing how they could dive...release their bomb and pull out with that massive G load and no G-suits. Great build on an airplane that took the fight back to the Japanese after Pearl Harbor. Cheers...Ron
  19. Have a safe trip Tom! Probably will still be scorching hot in Tucson when you get back! Fantastic build so far...Hope mine comes out as good! Cheers...Ron
  20. Pete...Great work on the Skyraider! Put a survivor on the ground with his radio hidden in the jungle from "Charlie" and have a recording loop of the locator beacon going from his radio. Flyover to confirm location and suppress fire so the Jolly Greens can make the pickup! Then drinks on the survivor at the O-Club!
  21. Just ordered 2 sets for my RF-4's! One to be an early RF-4C in the gray over white Navy scheme and the other an IDF RF-4E! Cheers...Ron
  22. That is a nice looking Tomcat. I liked the early Tomcat squadron markings and the Enterprise I think was the first carrier to have them aboard. Great finish...dirty but still fairly clean for a new fleet jet.
  23. I have a IKEA glass cabinet...it holds my 72nd scale Saturn V. The Launch Escape Tower is a couple inches from the top! I have a HK B-17F that will be built as "Knockout Dropper"...I want to build it in it's "pan" at Molesworth with a maintenance line shack and a vehicle...haven't decided yet...and some maintenamce guys finishing up some work on number 2 engine. I think my base will be 54" x 36" and I want the base to look like a AAF wooden crate. Still in the planning stage but getting there! Cheers...Ron
