  1. If they are as good as the Soviet pilots and officer in their I-16 kit, they should be excellent.
  2. Damn, you guys are all light years ahead of me. My last pit was the Revell BF-109G10. Only took one photo of it and I'd be embarrassed to show it in this thread.
  3. I ordered an A-10 set to see how they look. Month and a half now, hopefully they didn't vanish into the Canada Post black hole.
  4. I bought the Trump kit when it first came out, and just picked up the Revell kit. When I finally get round to building something again, I think I'll do them as a side by side build.
  5. I had a great experience with Eduard over the summer. I ordered a complete set of PE for the Trumpeter USS Langley and it was shipped out within a day or two. It never showed up. (Still hasn't for that matter.) I emailed Eduard to see if they could find out what happened to it, and they traced it to the transfer point to Canada. IT made it to a plane heading for Canada and there it vanished into a black hole called Canada Post. I called Canada Post, where their reply basically amounted to "so sad, too bad, we can't track other nations post. Tough chit." Eduard immediately sent another set. It arrived 9 days later. They have had a bunch of business from from me this year, both direct and via retailers. They will get a bunch more.
  6. I'd been wanting a Ju-88 for a long time, never could find one. Finally stumbled onto one in the local shop (good price too) after they got hold of someone's stash. The He-111, same deal. I spent some time looking for the Me-262, couldn't find one on line for a decent price what with shipping and customs. I just found one a couple nights ago at a local hobby shop, and grabbed it. I'll pick it up on Wednesday.
  7. I remember filling my Vauxhall Viva at 45 cents/imp gallon. I'm in Canada. I also remember Canada adopting metric then, and the price was now 25cents a litre. Being as there are about 4 litres per gallon, you can see who made money on that little swindle.
  8. Man, that is a really interesting project. It should look really sharp in the civil paint scheme. Those eastern European companies can come out with some really neat models of kits no one would ever expect. I am slowly working on the Amodel Dornier Wal, and your remarks about fit of parts is spot on. But I have to say, the fit on your parts is a lot better than on mine.
  9. Impressive work. You might just have tickled me enough to pull out one of the few car models I have collected.
  10. One of the first kits I actually bought for myself. Rode my bike about 10 miles to a hardware store, and returned home in a snowstorm. One thing to watch for, is a warped upper wing. I remember how it bowed down at the tips, and being new to modelling, I never thought much about it. References? What are those? But I had fun and that was the important part.
  11. I have a Revell BFf-109 G10 sitting here now for a month or more, keep trying to kick myself in the arse and get on with painting. Sort of a cross between black basing, with marbling, and preshading with the panel lines. I did the marbling on the grey plastic, no primer, still have to do the panel line tracing, but have stalled. Currently have an old desk top PC I'm trying to get working for my brother. It's giving me fits. Last thing I'm going to try is to make a USB boot stick with windows XP. (It's that old) That don't work, its time for the bin.
  12. Thought they might get round to doing one. I bought the 1/33 scale paper model about 12 years ago, thinking I'd try a paper to plastic conversion. At least I hadn't started it yet.
  13. I find as a former seller, that what you get for a kit depends entirely on how desperate the buyer is. The flip side of that is, what you have is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it when you are desperate to sell it. In either case, usually there is a meeting point in between, assuming both parties are willing to talk.
  14. I have half a dozen projects in various stages. Airfix E-boat, ICM 1/48 Yak-7b (currently going friggin nuts with the PE set), 1/32 Revell Bf-109G-10 Erla, a 1/24 Chevy Chevelle, a Tamiya KV-1B, and the Dornier Wal drawings from 1/72 to 1/32. I'm also fiddling with the Wal wing, to see if I will use a foam core or build one up from sheet. Right now I can't locate a source for 2' x 4' styrene sheets. But I'm still looking.
  15. Bellona did a series of booklets back in the 70s. My dad was heavily into tank models and bought just about all of them. I had some and scanned them, the Marder was a favorite of mine. So I know I have that one. I'll have to dig for it but I'll send them to you when I do. On another PC and it's time to go to work almost.
  16. Thanks Thierry, I just picked this one up a month ago.
  17. WWII Soviet planes for me. Yak-1, and Yak-7, La-5 and La-7, and the Pe-2. I'd love to see a 32nd scale Po-2, the Night Witches have fascinated me for years.
  18. I ordered a panel for my Trump A-10 just to have a look at them. I'll post photos if it ever makes it past Canada Post's black hole.
  19. Love the photo of DT-516. Bright sunshine, and thunder clouds in the back ground. Your project is coming along nicely. Gonna book mark this one for when I get round to doing my T-33.
  20. Thanks for the replies. I figured it was much as you described. First things first, master FreeCad. In the mean time I'll keep my eye out for good references.
  21. I've seen some of the great items being produce, and I want to make some of my own. So, just how do you get the information you need to make up the model? For instance I'm looking at trying to make Mk-82 bombs to replace the miserable ones in my Trump A-10 Kit. I've looked round and so far, the only dims I can find are length, max diameter and fin span. I've done a fair bit of drafting and looked at various aircraft cross sectional drawings, most of which don't have measurements which leads to the question. How would you be able to plot the casing curve of a KMk 82 without any measurements? I am just getting into FreeCad 0.18, and eventually I'll try to draw one and make the model. What do I do? Measure photos? Or measure drawings? That's for a simple enough project. How would you go about making the model for a radial engine or other complex item?
