RLWP
Really, I have too many projects on the go. This is the WNW Roland C.II lightly modified to be one of the 'planes in the gap between the two kits Trying to keep this one simple Richard USMC Herc, Iain, chukw and 6 others

Uncarina
Richard, It looks like a good start! Have you considered adding a dark wash around some of the details? This would make them stand out more, especially once you seal up the fuselage. Cheers, Tom Edited April 26, 2018 by Uncarina

RLWP
What a lovely thing the engine is. Shame so little will be visible, I could have saved a lot of time by not modelling the bits that can't be seen Engine is loose in it's frame at the moment My fingers are itching to detail the top of that carburettor and wire up the magnetos - I shall resist Richard Edited April 25, 2018 by RLWP Iain, USMC Herc, LSP_Kevin and 1 other

karimb
Superb! I keep putting off starting on mine. Richard your build is very inspiring! Looking forward to more. And don't forget not to fill the seam line when you join the two fuselage halves! That's how they were actually built and assembled in two halves! RLWP
And don't forget not to fill the seam line when you join the two fuselage halves! That's how they were actually built and assembled in two halves! Karim Yep, got that one. There's a covering strip between the two sides, and it's causing a bit of a headache. I'll primer it first to see what it looks like before deciding if it will clean up, or if I'm going to sand it off and glue a strip in place Richard
RLWP
It's going to have to be paint soon If I were building another of these, I'd join the tail parts B14 and B13 to the sides before closing the fuselage. It would reduce the small gap before and behind the tailplane. Not that it was hard to fill On the other hand, following the suggested sequence (sort of) I could glue the two D14 parts together to make the tailplane then join that to the fuselage before fitting the B13/B14 assembly Other parts: Richard Out2gtcha, Vandy 1 VX 4 and LSP_Kevin
RLWP
OK, I need some help I'd like to use a very light blue-grey paint, something that is difficult to work out if it is blue or grey What I could do with is a selection of paint charts - I think - or some ideas on how to achieve this Richard
karimb
Richard, the blue gray is quite hard to get... I often have thought about this when trying to choose my next kit to build and the Roland was in the list and always ended up skipping that. At the end of the day as long as you think it looks good it should work, i don't know if there are any paint chips remaining from that specific color floating around... RLWP
Oh dear, nearly two years... Never mind, this one is done! Wingnut Wings Roland C.II with Gaspatch Spandau and Parabellum, plus bomb rack and sliding windows. It's OK, the wing to fuselage joints really needed a lot more attention before painting. And using black undercoat underneath, grey on the sides and white on the top made touching up the blue paint an absolute nightmare! I'm very pleased with the 'long' turnbuckles. Amazing what you can do with a bit of twisted copper wire and some paint... Richard USMC Herc, Vandy 1 VX 4 and LSP_Kevin
