Tamiya 1:24 Toyota T050 Hybrid

Excuse the poor pics. Here is my Tamiya T050 Toyota Hybrid. Superb kit in every respect, highly recommended.

 

I used Zero paints for the white and black, and Tamiya Lacquer for the red. I also used the Top Studio carbon fibre decal set for this kit.

Not sure of the reason behind the opening - could be aero, could be brake cooling..?

First off, the model looks fantastic!

 

The holes in the wheel arches are there to prevent high pressure air from building up inside the wheel well if/when the car goes sideways in a spin, and then causes the car to fly up off the ground.

 

They have had problems with LMP cars literally flying off the ground like airplanes in spins.

 

The wheel well collects high pressure air like a bucket and the top of the wheel arch also creates low pressure, further intensifying the problem.  The hole prevents the high pressure air from collecting in the wheel arch.
