npb748r
Hi all, just starting to plan what to do with the Fly Sea Hurricane I have and I thought I would find it easy to see if they operated in the Pacific or Indian Oceans during WW2. I've not got much in the way of literature relating to the Sea Hurricane and the interweb has remarkable little in the way of useful information that I've been able to find. I know some of the ex-USN escort carriers that transferred to the RN carried the Sea Hurricane and that some of them operated in those waters however I've found next to no info about them during these periods ? Before I start some extensive blind searching (or just give up and go for an Atlantic aircraft) I wondered if any of the experts on here had any insights or could point me where to look. Thanks for your help Neil
Scotsman
I'm sure the real experts will be around soon , but as far as I know , no the Sea Hurricanes stayed in the Atlantic, with the various Merlin engined Seafires being deployed with the fleet carriers in the pacific , npb748r
MikeMaben
Hi Neil, yeah, the North Atlantic and Malta are the only places I know of them being deployed. Good luck and have fun. Scotsman, npb748r and MikeC 2
Kagemusha
I'm also pretty certain they didn't, you could always make a straight IIC in SEAC markings, this book has a mass of terrific profiles, if you search Hurricane decals on google images it should come up with plenty of examples. They were also used during Operation Torch, carrying US roundels. npb748r and MikeC 1
Scotsman
Not to derail the topic , but wouldn't a Tamiya Quality Hurricane be wonderful Model_Monkey, Tony T and npb748r
MikeC
Agree with all the above, including the potential derailment. npb748r and Scotsman
RandyB
There were some Sea Hurricanes operating with 880 Squadron on HMS Indomitable during May 1942 in the Indian Ocean. They were supporting Operation Ironclad, the invasion of Madagascar. Cheers, -randy npb748r, MikeC, RLWP and 1 other 3

Are the Fly kit options no good then? I quite like the dirty white scheme. Tony npb748r

Fly options are ok, the dirty white scheme was my original choice however I really like the FAA SEA markings but suspect I'll stick with the dirty white scheme. I've had some time to look at the Fly kits, they seem really good, I'm expecting the normal short run issues but that's the kind of modelling I enjoy - the occasional shake and bake is ok but I like old school modelling/scratching in the main. 17 hours ago, Jennings Heilig said: I'd have to lay pretty good odds that Kotare will be thinking about Hurricanes in the not too distant future, assuming their Spit goes well. That went through my mind as well

They do quality stuff.

MikeC
Assuming it's still available, the Grey Matter cockpit set designed for the old Revell fits the Fly kit with some fettling. npb748r
