Bruce_Crosby Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Hi Guys, Here we go with attempt number 3 to get this model posted! It's Hasegawa's Raiden, a superbly engineered kit that has parts that fit like a glove. The paint is all GSi Mr Hobby and markings are from Maketar masks. The Hinomaru Red is from the Mr Hobby set for the N1K2, well worth finding the set as the red is a beautiful colour. All comments welcome, good or otherwise. LSP_K2 Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Looks good. I'm considering this same kit as a purchase this year sometime, hopefully.
Bruce_Crosby Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 Kevin, I've got the Zoukei-Mura kit stashed away to build one day when my confidence level is higher, but the Hasegawa kit is an absolute gem. Easily one of the best fitting kits I've ever seen, there's a rudimentary wing spar that eventually mates up with a couple of hefty bulkheads in the fuselage and once it's aligned you'll never get it apart. The whole thing lines up beautifully. I have others in the same series from Hasegawa and all the Japanese fighters are top engineering. I know that there are neersayers here who say that Hasegawa are just enlarged 1/38 kits. Far from it, they are well engineered kits, although sometimes the detail is simplified. Which is why we have thriving third party suppliers. I'll be doing a George soon, or that's the plan if I ever get round to finishing some Fw 190D-9's. Regards, Bruce Crosby Uncarina 1

Agreed, I purchased mine off of K2s thread of his N1K2................and indeed he was correct, its a HELLOFA nice kit. IMHO, one of Has's nicest new tool kits. Even though I have not built mine yet, from everything Ive read, including K2s thread, it fits like a dream (unless you glue the empennage on askew ) Edited January 5, 2017 by Out2gtcha LSP_K2 and Bill_S 2

LSP_Kevin Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Lovely work, Bruce! Congrats on a fine model. May I publish it on the website? Kev LSP_K2 1
Bill_S Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Agreed on both the Raiden and the George. They are good enough that you won't find a complete resin cockpit for either. LSP_K2 1
Bruce_Crosby Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 Hi Kev, The same as Number One, I'd be greatly honoured. I just came back from our local IPMS meeting and the Raiden got favourable comments there, so I'm quietly happy with both models. But no resting on my laurels, onto the Fw 190D-9, optimistically named "Number Three". Regards, Bruce Crosby
LSP_Ron Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Nicely done. I've been through Swindon many times heading to Cheltenham, Stonehouse and Winchcombe, beautiful area there!
Shaka HI Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Awesome! I'm gonna get one of these....wait, I already have one! Bill_S 1
