B-17 1/32 My first project (work in progress)

Olive Drab on WWII bombers often faded to a brownish green - some even took on a purplish hue. In short, whatever colour you mix can't be far wrong providing it's green-ish!

If you google colour pictures of OD B-17s it'll give you some ideas. The fabric coloured control surfaces faded a lot quicker than the metal fuselage and wings. It wasn't uncommon to see replacement panels salvaged from wrecked Fortresses to be on other airframes - some looked a real patchwork of various greens and browns.

There are some nice shots of early F models here: http://io9.com/5989117/check-out-these-unpublished-color-photos-of-world-war-ii-american-bomber-crews

This particular model is one of the most realistically weathered B-17s I've ever seen and is well worth a look:  http://www.helmo.gr/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=574&Itemid=41

Do you have a particular aircraft in mind? Depending on how accurate you want your model to be, only 300 or so Douglas built B-17s had the staggered waist gun positions and the Cheyenne tail turret (as per the HK kit) and were painted in Olive drab and Neutral Grey.

Thank you very much. Last saturday there was a big air show here in Switzerland and I had the chance and the priviledge to enter inside the B17 Sally B (the one used for the movie "Memphis Belle" and the only flying B17 in Europe). Here are the pictures I took of the plane. PS: its a B17G modified for the movie Memphis Belle to look like an older one...

Also thank you for the colour advice, I will make it look weathered with faeded colour and some patches here and there ;)
