geedubelyer
Hello everyone. I was lucky enough to attend the IWM Duxford's Flying Legends air show on Sunday and attempted to capture some images of the display. I was disappointed with the results unfortunately. I had borrowed a lens from my cousin (90-300 zoom) but the lens was struggling in AF mode to focus on the moving subjects so I had to revert to manual focussing. Since I'm short sighted () I blame my woeful results on not being able to see properly to focus. Anyhoo, after much teeth gnashing and editing, these are the best I could muster. geedubelyer
I make no excuse for this last batch. One of the higlights for me was the Red Bull sponsored P-38. I know purists might shudder at the highly polished finish but boy, does she look good in the flesh! I must have fired off dozens of frames at this bird but in the end, all I could manage were these few paltry shots. I do hope you enjoy seeing them as much as we all enjoyed the sight and sound of the real deal this weekend.... Thanks for stopping by.
LSP_Kevin
Great photos GD, even despite your technical and ocular difficulties. Some of them are quite evocative. Kev

dodgem37
I'm glad to see a corporation sponsoring restorations. I have nothing against Formula 1 racing, and such. But I think this is a vitally important part of history that should not be left to become derelicts. Sincerely, Mark

J.C.
Well, those pictures are a hell of a lot better than I could ever take.... They are moving targets after all. I think people tend to forget that important fact. Anyway, I really love the captures of the Hurricane and the Spitfire you got. I think they show off the classic profiles of these two aircraft perfectly. Do you mind if I clip them and add them to my desktop wallpaper? LSP_Ron
Well, those pictures are a hell of a lot better than I could ever take.... They are moving targets after all. That's the truth Jamie, having been to two airshows at Duxford myself and returning with many pictures of just sky or the tail of an airplane.... they are very tough to photograph. Great pics!!! geedubelyer
Hi everyone. Many thanks for the support and kind words. I'm pleased that you liked the photos. Brian, you know you wanna..... Do you mind if I clip them and add them to my desktop wallpaper? Hi Jamie, glad you like them. Please feel free to use any of the images (I have higher resolution versions if you need them). Whilst taking the snapshots I also gave a recent purchase another outing. For those who like the sound of Merlins and Griffins look I'll upload more as time allows and post links on this thread. Cheers.
