I'm searching for a good quality aircraft model jig that is capable of holding a larger 1/32 aircraft in place. Some of the ones I've seen on Amazon and its ilk have some pretty bad reviews in terms of quality (i.e. arriving broken; bad instructions/parts you name it) I don't mind paying good money for good quality. Is there anything out there? My old one packed it in. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I bought one from eBay a while ago, and liked it, so I also bought its smaller sibling for 1/48 and 1/72.

I have an aging JH Models stand/jig that I bought many years ago from UMM-USA. Quality even when new was fair at best, but after years of use it's tired and a bit worn out. They're made of slightly flimsy laser-cut wood that you have to glue and assemble yourself, and I've had to re-glue parts of mine a couple of times. They were, however,  pretty much all you could get at the time. I still use it, but recently bought a much more solid unit from Manscale Models here in Australia. It's made from heavyweight clear acrylic by a local guy who trades as PEDA Models.

I like it so far, but it does have a couple of downsides. Firstly, it's quite heavy relative to units made from other materials, and it can be quite unwieldy to move around - especially with a model on it! Secondly, the wingnuts can sometimes interfere with the model, depending on how the uprights are positioned. This can also make it fiddly to adjust. And I guess the main drawback for most of you will be that it's practical to obtain if you live outside of Australia!

This is my cheapo eBay stand, it does everything that I want it too and I wish I had bought one years ago it has certainly improved my modelling.

Thanks folks . I've seemed to have had the same ambivalent relationship with my old jig. No magic jigs out there. Alas. Well I'll pick one of your suggestions and enjoy. Happy modelling!
