On another forum someone thought the tapered end was rough. I can tell you that it isn't. I took a sandingstick, a 100mm macro on the camera en made the following photo.

Here you can see the sanding marks over the whole surface. I think some primer will do wonders.
    Thanks for watching.

i decided to not use the tanks, they are not pointy enough and i made the fins too small  . on top of that, the drawings i used seem to render them not long enough. besides there are a lot of wartime pics with planes without tanks....

Last 2 weeks i spent time building but forgot to take pictures. I rigged the wings, made the landing gear and the the tail wheel.
The landing gear got some PE.

The wheels are from Mastercasters and i think they look real nice.

The tail wheel however is not so nice. The axel looks crooked.

This was not acceptable so i drilled a hole through the wheel and the bracket.

Then I took some 0.6mm brass tube and made an axel

When assembled itlooks much better. ( For such a small part)

Then I sprayed everything in mr surfacer grey. I'm looking forward to spray some color.

    Some small parts

    Some bigger parts

    And a dryfit

I will try to make some more in progress pics

Thanks for the great pics Chek. I will try to make a torpedo on the lathe.

But first the paintjob. After the duck egg green i masked everything ans sprayed the dark green.

I sprayed this fridaymorning and this morning i wanted to spray the dark seagrey. For masking I used a method wich i saw here on the forum and that was masking with wet paper.
The only thing about  this is that the paper must stay wet or it wil move around. There was no time to detup the photoboot so a quick pic was taken.

Then I sprayed the dark seagrey and this afternoon I unpacked the whole thing. I must say that I'm happy with the result. There is some touching up to do but that is ok.

Next thing to do is the touching up and then some clear gloss for the decals. After the decals another clear Gloss and than some shadowing. But first I let this paint dry.

Thanks for watching and until the next time

When I was looking at my references I saw that the exhaust was way too light. It had to be much darker.

Below my reference warpaint series nr 12. I am going to do the 4H

So I took some matt black en made the exhaust darker.

I am still seeing the copper, blue en orange so I am very happy with this.

Yesterday I sprayed paint on the wings and the fuselage. It seems like a strange color but I think it is the correct one. This is sky (duck egg green)

I let this dry at least till tomorrow before I wil mask it and spray another color. Better save than sorry.

    Thanks for watching

Painting has started. First I sprayed the oilcooler. I use Hobby color as paint and I really like it. I can spray indoors, even when it's cold because you don't really smell the paint.
For the cooler I used steel with a drop or 2 copper. when you turn it in the light it gets different shades,

Then I went for the exhaust ring. I wanted to try to paint some heat stains. The exhaust is made of copper so that is the first layer.

Then I toke some clear blue,

    Followed by clear orange.

Finally i did some layers of grey smoke to darken the copper and try to blend the colors a bit. All it needs now is a coat of matt clear to get rid of the shine.

For the first try i am happy with it. If you see something to do better the next time, please tell me. Every comment is usefull and appreciated

I decided not to cut out the ailerons so I went on with the wings. I cut away the brackets at the rigging because these were more then 0.5mm thick which is way overscaled. I will replace these with 0.25mm styreen. Also the holes were filled en I will make smaller holes because Trumpeter made a mistake with the rigging. In the picture below you will see that Trumpeter wants you to place PE1, PE2 and PE3. In all my references I can't find these and Thomas Lund also warned me about this.

I decided to glue the rightwings and leftwings but I'll glue these to the fuselage when everything is sprayed in color

The handle for folding the wings is replaced with PE

When you glue everything together (without the rigging that is) it looks like this

A litlle putty is still needed.
Upper center wing with some PE

The fuselage after priming. The oilcooler is till dryfit. This wil also be glued after spraying.

At last a dryfit because i want to place the rigging with everything in place. Just to prefent some misallignment.

I also had a little setback. I wanted to make the torpedo but when I wanted to take the sprue out of the box I noticed there wasn't any sprue P. I looked very carefully, I searched my hole room but I couldn't find it. Bummer. I went to the LHS and told the problem. They will contact the importer to see if they can get a replacement sprue. I also contacted the customerservice of Trumpeter. I don't have high hopes but you never know. So, if you own this kit please check if sprue P is present before you are going to build it.
I will check the net for measurements and will try to make a torpedo from scratch because i really want a torpedo under the plane.

Before I could prime the fuselage i had to place some more parts. One of this parts was the lower center wing. And man o man, did I mess this up
When I glued this part I saw something strange. I looked at the model, I looked at the manual , I went to the wall en hit my head against it.

In the manual you will see at the end of the toothpick some sort of adjusting.

    Now look at my piece

    eal

Something did not go wel here. While cleaning this piece i must have tought this were some kind of sprue or something so i cut it off..........

A well, after realising what I had done I had a good laugh en fixed it with some styreen rod and a piece of a earbud.

This will do for me. After this I sprayed the fuselage in the primer and went on with the wings. I had the idea of cutting out the ailerons but there seems to be a different between the top side and the bottom side.

The piece of tape is of the same lenght. When the aileron moves upwards, the pivotting points are at the black stripes. (Is it called pivotting points or is it called hingeline?)
But where are the pivotting points when the aileron moves downwards??????????

I really have no idea and I can't find it in the references so I think I will leave it as it is

    Thanks for watching.

Since the last update i was going to work on the fasteners. The fasteners Trumpeter made on this model are ugly and real thick. In the BIGED set are some nice fasteners. To place these fasteners I had to cut the molded fasteners, sand it and place a replacement. Difficulty here is that there are three sort of fasteners, round ones, triangels en square fasteners. The instructions on the Eduard sheets are a little vague so I opened my reference pics and placed the fasteners.

Here an overview. There are a lot of fasteners. The otherside looks the same.

    A little bit in cose-up

Now I have some clean-up to do and then it's time for a light coat of primer.

As you can see I have also placed the horizontal stabiliser. The elevators a placed a little down but I am not satisfied yet so I am gonna place them a little more down.

In the meantime I also worked on the engine. I had some PE to add but not to much.
Here are the baffles placed. These are placed to force the wind through the cilinders for cooling.

According to Trumpeter I had to place this part (I don't know the name, sorry)

According to Eduard the ring and wide spokes had to be removed

All is then inserted in the Townend ring and a little oilwash is applied.

All tips and critics are welcome.

    Thanks for watching.

    HAPPY NEWYEAR!

My first post of this new year is about closing the fuselage. All i was needed to do was made the fuel-/oiltanks. I sanded them flush, sprayed it red and used self adhesive alu tape to represent the bands. When that was done i placed all things in the right side of the fuselagehalf and closed it.

I think the fit of the kit so far is great. I didn't have to use a lot of persusion and there are almost no gaps.

I then went on to the horizontal stabilasor. I used some PE here because the controlhorns of the kit and the trim tabs are not great. On the left the adjusted piece.

A little bit of cleaning up to do.

That is it for this time. Thanks for looking in and untill the next update.
