Would love to get a D but the stash I already have is ridiculous in quantity as it is. Have an Academy 1:72 Desert Storm D waiting to provide company for it's Revell A sister.

This is a 1/32 master for an IAI Lavi kit, made by Mister Bekim Lulaj from Sindelfingen (Germany), shown 2012 at a German modelling event.
Doe's anybody know what happens? Will this kit be released, and when, and what manufacturer? Any informations?

Well, even if nobody knows about the fate of this effort: Just enjoy!

I think it's certainly worth every penny I paid for it, and it has the potential to really make a statement, display wise.

Spent most of the morning and a bit afternoon sanding the bow to perfection and think that it's looking pretty decent now. Still have a bit more trimming on the difficult stern section to do.

These guys are proving a pain to get blended in because of the complex shapes.

The bow became warped after glueing the hull together.

This side still needs some more work but figured I would get you guys some updates

    Government budget cuts eh

The base is Heller's Arromanches/Colossus kit with a few extras, it came to be with the combined effort of several people.

Having seen a couple of ship topics in here and having browsed through AEROPOXY's Dutch navy Avenger build (which made me dig the following kit from my stash), it looked like a good time to pull my Hr. Ms. Karel Doorman from the shelf again. The hull was started a long time ago.

After perusing some of the cool ship models being built here, I've succumbed to the urge myself. To that end, I've resumed work that was halted on my Gato some months (years), back. Pretty straightforward really, three Eduard sets and a cool paint scheme, and it should be a snap,… says the man who hasn't finished hardly anything in three years.

    Obligatory box photo.

Ok sorry for the poor pic. I was chiselling away at the new fairing shape when I thought 'oops, better snap a quick pic before it is finished and re-primed'.

I made a template to the correct curve and taped it to the wing surface. I then ran my scriber around the rear 2/3rds as the front third has more blend than a harder junction where it meets the top cowl rear surface.

Already the shape looks 'right' compared. I just need to sand the whole lot together. Firstly though chisel out the shape to flush with the wing upper surface. Then all you need to do then is blend the upper fairing into the top surface with sanding and Mr Surfacer. Sounds easy in theory...... Interestingly I can see the top contour come right across the cowl and into the mid wing point.

Like I say, sorry for the crappy pic, I will update when I have more to show

    Cheers

    Hi,

as I've been reading in this Forum for a long time I decided to sign up and present my version of the Mosquito 1/24 from Airfix. This is a work in progress and I have just finished the main part of the fuselage. I'm building this kit in stages or units and will be updating after every stage.

The fuselage actually consisted of 7 stages until now, but as I have completed these already I will just start with the images of the first Unit. You can always feel free to ask any questions and I will gladly answer them as soon as possible.

    Thanks Peter! Much appreciated mate.

Ok so those of you out there serious about this build, here is another area that will need a 'tweak'. See the photo below.

This is the firing behind the top cowl. 2 things here.
1: The shape of the Airfix kit dosent look quite right. Bit long and not asymmetric where the outer wing tapers more sharply to the leading edge.
2: the main reason why is because it IS too long. 995mm equates back to 41.5mm where the kit part is about 44.5 9(ish). Now 3mm dosent sound like much, but it is enough to alter the shape/look of this fairing. With such a big top surface on the model my eye was drawn to it.

Hope this helps.....now you know what my next job is!

    Cheers
    Anthony

re: resin casting, I just got into it as well.  It's quite easy once you figure it out. May I suggest one of Sylmasta's starter kits - £30 quid a pop. They are usually at the Nats and the larger model shows.  Well worth it..

anyway, the model looks superb, looking forward to checking it out in the flesh

Thank You D.  Found a navigators dome on a 1/144 B-29, cut off the molded one, drilled a hole, glued it in and painted it and realized
that I could have put a notch in the back on the molded and filled it with white glue.

This one is still setting at the end of the runway (IE read bench) awaiting restoration.  After I finish Glens OV-10A, I will be re-embarking on this one for sure. Shes been looking at me longingly every day......................

It will also be my first experience with an overall acrylic finish in a VERY long time. I'm always open to new techniques, and in this case, with all of the severe chipping on the Walrus in the African theater, I think the hairspray/chipping fluid under acrylics is the way to go, as I have a very specific look in mind for the chipping.

I also think that switching from the OOB style 4 color "Shadow shading" temperate sea scheme which involved a LOT of mixing colors, and colors that were not available in the type of acrylics used for chipping, and switching to the more standard Mid Stone over Azure Blue RAF Op Torch scheme, will save a lot of time and mixing, not to mention get me the chipping I need.

Im looking forward to returning to the big ol Tusked girl..............

Ejector marks if I ever saw them, not very Tamiya-like You're off to a great start, can exactly imagine how you went through all the resources from doing my 1/72 Fujimi Spitfire that now has all the bells and whistles in the pit (see topic in non-LSP works).

Thanks Geedubelyer, I pretty much knew absolutely nothing about 3D printing when I brought it, but I'm starting to come to grips with what you can get away with and what you can't. Lots of trial and much more error!

There are a few other things that can bite you with this stuff too. For example, if you are trying to make a vertical, thin walled part (like most of mine, wall thickness 1.5mm) I found out to my frustration that you can get about half way through a print and the bottom can separate from the board, instantly throwing the piece out of position and ruining the print (there is no pause button once it starts, other than to turn it off and start again). This "raft separation" doesn't always happen, but I have found that if I build a solid wall (about 2-3mm) thick on the base of the part when vertical, kind of like a bulkhead in my case, then the part has a much greater surface area to cling onto the print bed and you can pretty much guarantee there won't be any separation. Then I just trim off the extra when I'm done.

I'm having an absolute blast with this build and learning so much at the same time! My imagination ran a little overboard the other day when I had the thought that if I could build myself a little CNC engraver, then I could design and cut out all sorts of shapes (like rear fuselage formers) in brass and pretty much just solder them together. Now wouldn't that be cool!

    Dream on Craig, dream on.....
