New project for the new year. I know, another 109, but some new things for me. Haven't built an F before and haven't done a winter scheme. At this point I am planning on doing Max-Helmuth Ostermann's half winter scheme. Could change. Started with the cockpit, which is somewhat improved on the F kits, so I will go with the kit parts. Did use a Quickboost control stick and Radu's belts. There is a problem with the right fuselage half in the storage compartment area. Don't think it will be too bad to fix.

Hi Richard, I agree with everyone else. The paint looks great and I wouldn't change a thing. Your style of painting gives it a somewhat weathered look already, which I like a lot.

This was a most enjoyable build. The kit is nice and goes together well, but the real enjoyment came from all the help I got from fellow LSPers. One of the things I really like about LSP is that everyone is trying to help you get it right, rather than pointing out that you are wrong. May be a fine line there, but I think we all know the difference. I probably still got everything wrong, but it wasn't for lack of help. Thanks to Alain, Anders, Hardcore, and Ted for their information, and everyone who followed the WIP.

I am not sure how this kit has been rated by the experten, haven't seen a review, but I enjoyed it. It doesn't come with a short tailwheel, which a lot of G-10's had, or a DF loop. The fuel filler door on the left side is not there, which I didn't discover until I was putting the decal for it on. I used a few AM items including Eagle Parts spinner and battery box, G-Factor gear legs, Radu's belts, and BarracudaCast wheels. Montex masks for the markings over Mr. Color paint.

Finished this one over the weekend. BarracudaCast prop, spinner, oil cooler housing, and small bulge wing inserts, RB Productions belts, BarracudaCals decals. Riveted with beading tool, EZ Line antenna wire, and Mr. Color paint. Had a few issues, not my best work, but overall an enjoyable build. Learned some things for the next one.

Thanks, Tom. Finished the oil wash. Didn't leave too much on as the pictures  show the plane to be fairly light. Painted the Eagle Parts spinner. Used spare prop blades from a Hasegawa kit. Holding my breath I put the assembly on the plane, to find that the hole I drilled in the spinner and the tube I installed in the engine were actually centered! Now that's a good feeling. The Eagle Parts spinner really fits this kit perfectly.

Thanks a lot, guys. I appreciate the comments. A little more progress. Got the decals on. Looking at the pictures from the Japo book I could see that the bare metal surfaces underneath had the panel lines roughly painted over so I just brush painted those. When I was putting the fuel triangle on the left side I realized that Trumpeter hadn't molded an access panel there so I had to scribe that. I also noticed they have the oil fill on the front cowl in the lower position, but too late to change that. Also on the real plane the twos are different styles. Mine are not and this caused some overlap of the 24 volt socket. Again, too late to do anything about. Given those things, I am still happy with how it's going. Just have to keep those things in mind for the next one. I still have to figure out how I am going to mount the canopy in an open position as Trumpeter makes no provision for that. Flat coated and ready for oil wash.

In the end I found there was actually a Montex mask set for this plane, so that helped a great deal.

After looking at the pictures from the Japo book I decided to tone down the mottling. In some of the pictures it looks fairly heavily mottled, and in others not so much. Maybe the angle or light. Anyway. went back with some 76 and will add some 75 mottles this weekend.
