I have no idea, Jeff. It may take someone else to sort that out for you. I removed all of mine quite some time back, owing to the PB extortion nonsense, so haven't really messed with it for a few years now.

    Hi all,

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong here?.....I put two models in the signature, but when I put the third one in, I got this notice...

I have seen dozen's of these links in others signatures, so can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

I have to work out how to change the title of the hyperlinks Kevin, so I dont blow out the signature four line limit,  after all these years on the internet now, I have never done that, LOL!...so I am going to try it on my desktop PC, I only ever use my Ipad these days, and I cant work out how to do it on that.

    I'll see how I go...

Finally got the decals on, but still a final couple of clear coats to go once the decals have throughly set. The one on the boot surrounds was a challenge to line up with the remainder of the race number on the lid itself. They were two separate decals, whereas my preference would be for one that I could then cut along the panel edge. The other challenge was getting the number on the nose to settle into the radiator access panel lines - it took a long session with multiple applications of Microsol to get there. A dark wash inside the panel line should sort it.

I also had my first go at chipping paint using the hairspray method for the underseal just behind the lower air intakes. Worked a treat, although it did make my garage smell like a ladies salon. I'll weather the underneath, wheel arches etc once I've finished the clear coating. The photos also show the door and window rubbers inserted and/or painted as appropriate. The headlight enclosures have been painted in Humbrol polished aluminium which seems to give just the right finish as compared with photos of the real car.

The first photo shows a finished air intake cover with the Dzus fastener in the open position. I used some fine fuse wire for the spring.

It can sit for another few days now before clear coating.

My take on all this is that these folks were an integral part of the team that brought Mr. Jacksons vision(s) to life. He picked a subject-and they made it happen. I had never heard of some of the planes they came out with. But every WNW kit I purchased was a thing of beauty and a joy to build. With that in mind, I don't really care what the subject is, I am pretty confident it will be well researched, engineered and I'll have a great time with it on my bench.

That is why I had to take a break from my build, I was over all the metallic paint peeling issues, ir wore me down, so I have been working on two other projects lately, but I will get back to it one day, just have to gather up the enthusiasm again.

    Great question!
Most crewchiefs will extend out the lap belts, running them forward so the buckle-ends rest on the forward edge of the thigh area of the seat cushion, parallel to each other. This allows the pilot to sit down without sitting on the straps and buckles. The straps are parallel to and outside of your thighs when you sit down.
most modelers also have the survival kit straps waaay too long. They are typically about 4 fingers width, and get cinched down when connected.
The shoulder straps are typically flipped back and placed on either side of the head rest. This is because the crewchief will connect them to your harness for you and then give them a tug-check.

Hi im going to post a link to copy of my old "Long Nose Hawks” write up from May 2008 (forgive the terrible grammar and spelling)  the "Early P-40 /Tomahawks Detail’s (part 1 of 3)" section is still relevant if somewhat dated (I do have a photo of the RAF external Armor Glass in this)

Work continues.  Next up is the main landing gear.   Kit parts were decent, not bad, not Tamiya level either.  At least the struts were a single piece so I don't have to deal with cleaning up a seam that runs the length of them.    To the kit landing gear, I added the brake lines, a clamp for them and drilled out the oleo scissor links.   I then shot the struts with AK Real Metal Dark Aluminum.  This stuff is great.  Sprays nice and easy, dries quick and is very tough.  Also has a very realistic matte finish.

Next up were the wheels.   I went with Barracuda's resin ones.   For anyone out there building a P-51, Corsair, Spitfire, Bf-109 or T-Bolt, buy Barracuda wheels!!   Detail is amazing and they are truly a bargain.  So much better than anything in plastic.   Like the landing gear bays, the MLG struts and wheels would get filthy operating from dirt strips in all weather conditions.   The wheels would be coated in brake dust, grime and mud.   Pretty much same for the struts themselves and the insides of the doors.   Here's a great picture by LSP's own Thomaz that illustrates this nicely.   Also note how flattened the tires are from all that weight!

I weathered all these bits with Flory washes and some thinned black.   Please note - I still have much to do here, all the weathering is very much a work in progress.

Here are the wheels and struts:

The tire sidewalls aren't that shade of grey, must have been the lighting when I took the pics, it's much darker in real life.

And I've got the wheels mounted and struts glued in place.  Once I'm done with the weathering, I'll post a couple more pictures.

Thanks for checking in and for all the great feedback!

Still plodding along, did a bit of touchup, added the area that would normally be under the canopy (had a question on the color, the consensus seemed to be it was painted OD for camouflaged Jugs), added the cowling and shot the yellow ID stripes.    Looks like I have a bit of overspray to fix but that won't be a major task.

I forgot how incredible this movie was.   Awesome to see those carrier ops in full color.   I wonder if the jet that took the barrier was planned or the film crew just happened to be in the right place at the right time?    That being said, when the heck are we going to get a decent F4U-4?

This represents an SBD-3 from VS-6 USS Enterprise June 4th 1942 crewed by ENS Frank O’Flaherty and AMM1 Bruno Gaido. Both Gaido and O’Flaherty were captured by the IJN after ditching their aircraft. After both men were interrogated, they had weights attached to them and thrown overboard to drown. This the Trumpeter Midway “Clear Edition”. As many have stated over the years, this is a pretty good kit!  I wouldn’t mind building another one. The only AM used was Yahu IP, my wife made the squadron decal ID numbers for me. I used AK Paints exclusively on this build. This piece was awarded the “Whizzer White Memorial” Navy/Marine Attack Aircraft at the 2021 Las Vegas Nationals. Photos were taken with my iphone.

After a difficult start when I thought that this one would be a failure I am very pleased that I persevered as it has turned out really nice and I like it a lot.
I bought this one when the kit first came out as the Tempest was one of my favourites meaning to build it straight away but I was seduced by an MDC Typhoon and never got back to the Tempest.
As I have quite a few PCM kits in the loft and have only ever built one (G55) I thought that this year I would build three of them, the Tempest, a fabric winged Hurricane and a Spitfire Mk.IX.
Despite my usual routine of reading other peoples builds, reviews and of course the tweak list, I was taken by surprise by some of the problems I encountered and was close to shelving the build but I have never given up on a build in 1/32 scale so carried on and it got better and I started to enjoy myself.
The kit itself is a treasure trove of PE, Resin and a wonderful selection of decals, the instructions are also very good if a mite vague in parts, but it was the first 1/32 scale kit of a Tempest and PCM did made kits of subjects that other manufacturers have ignored to this day.
I took an early decision not to use too much in the way of aftermarket parts and use what was in the box but I did use some Barracuda parts, the main wheels and the Typhoon/Tempest air intake ring are from them,
Markings were painted on using Montex masks and Sovereign Colourcoats paints, the stencils were my first attempt at using HGW Wet Transfers and I was most impressed with them and have invested in quite a few sets from their range as I do not get on well with decals especially the tiny stencil ones.
The main paint scheme was done with Xtracolor paints and for the camouflage pattern I used AML masks which I have used before.
The main problem with the early part of the build was that I had just finished a run of three Hasegawa kits so I had been spoilt quite a bit and it took a while to get back to basics.
I wanted to build a Tempest without invasion stripes and came across this photo on which I based my build, this is the caption from the photo
"Budd Miller taxing his Tempest SD-R (EJ558) for another anti-diver patrol. Filmed at Bradwell Bay on 15 October 1944".
Further research found that Flight Officer Budd Miller (RCAF No. R-140790, USAAF No. T-190924) was an NCO pilot of the USAAF, flying attachment with the RAF

    Here is the build thread.
And so on with the photos.

    Cheers
