alaninaustria
Thanks gentlemen! Have managed a little scribbing - more to follow! Will be getting really busy starting tomorrow with work for the next weeks - hope to get this build up in primer and ready for final painting ASAP!! alaninaustria
Another quick update! Nose gear doors are done, a mix of scratch parts, Trumpeter nose gear doors (modified), and the venerable Revell of Germany kit part (center nose gear door). Small steps, but progress nevertheless!! alaninaustria
Thanks Pete! You are so correct - progress is progress!! Well, another small update.... cockpit tub all cleaned up and Trumpeter mounting lugs all removed! A few small simple scratch parts added - nothing too spectacular! alaninaustria
Thanks Harv!! I'm really trying to make time for this build - I want to have all the building/scratch work done and then get it wrapped up in primer and finally ready for the painting stage!! Cheers Alan
alaninaustria
Another boring update... panel lines rescribed, air scoops added, new fuel filling hatches scribed and antenae mount added as well new aileron trim linkages!! Small steps, but getting closer to getting this bird in primer! Next up is to finish the rudder trim linkages and the rear rudder will be replaced with clear plastic as the real machine had the early transparency over the rear position light!! alaninaustria
Another small update - I'm getting a lot of small jobs done such as the main landing gear - shortented by about 1,5 mm in oleo extension to give the bird a better stance! The torque links are cleaned up and test fitted! Slowly but surely!! Cheers Alan 109, Jan_G, daHeld and 1 other
alaninaustria
Found a little time for the bench today - am all stuffed up with the flu Some small detail work on the gear torque-links and leading edge slats! They looked a little plain! See if you can spot the details!! Cheers Alan Jan_G, 109, daHeld and 1 other
alaninaustria
Another small update from the bench - fooling around with the Archer printed resin rivet transfers! In situ... With the wing closed up - some detail can still be seen! Am curious what these rivets will look like under a layer of primer? Wegener
Looks good. I will steal some of your ideas on the tub for my A1a. Are you planning to replace those control linkage rods? The kit parts looked awfully chunky to me. And those circular projections on the fuselage sides below the cockpit are really thin, so I just removed mine. Trumpeter moulded them like metal plates. alaninaustria
alaninaustria
Thanks gentlemen - appreciate the feedback! Wegener, I'll prob be leaving the kit rods as is - they may be a little over scale but you really don't see very much of them once everything is closed up! Happy modelling gentlemen! alaninaustria
Short update... laid some primer down today - Mr. Surfacer Black. Goes down nicely and leaves a great undercoat for Alclad metalizers! Cheers Alan daHeld, Greg W, Tomcat14 and 1 other
