PietvWdV
Jay fired an email across my bows this morning and thus I am sharing at this later stage this build. I am using the Eduard detail set which is very nice. Unfortunately, halway through building the cockpit, I has the entire assembly between thumb and forfinger doing a test fot into the fuselage. Having weakened the structure considerably inserting the eddy floor, I applied too much force and suddenly the entire thing imploded and then exploded in my hand. This was just before Xmas, and I left it till after new year. Damage done included warped floorboards, the control column was completely demolished and some smaller parts fell into my pet black hole that lives on my bench. I started repairs on the floorboard, this time strengthening it first!
PietvWdV
I then started rebuilding the rest. I wanted to make this a neat cockpit but after the accident that went out the window. In this picture is an early wash. It is watercolor and overdone. I removed much of it later. I really only wanted a wash to lift details, not to weather. Also visible some added wires. This is my first attempt at rebuilding the stick. The handhold parts is a guitar string. The buttons and levers are just sprues and stuff melted and sanded and gawd knows what till it worked. But I was still not happy with the pipe, which I later replaced with a piece of aluminium tube that worked better.
Haggis
Don't you just hate it when that happens. Good repair job mate, chin up.
PietvWdV
In this pic the pit is in and we are mostly happy. The brass tubes was going to be an adjustable gunsight holder, but I later decided to build the frame the sight sits on onto the clear parts. The toothpic and brass rods also helped warp the whole thing back towards straightness. The softer washing can now be seen, but you can see the radio compartment has had no washing yet. All the decals in the pit are from the spares box. The odd white and grey areas on the wings are the remains of fillers and sprays used to correct the wing root line due to the odd fit of that part. The rest of the kit seems to fit like dream. I also did some filling and sanding to remove the seam lines on the fuselage, but not much was needed. PietvWdV
This picture is a while later , during test fitting of the forward canopy. Visible is the control stick version 2.1. Also you can see the frame for the gunsight, and the gunsight fasteners already on it. If you noticed on the previous picture the instrument panel part is fitted inside out. I thought since it is simetrical, I was not going to spend the effort sanding down the dials in the front to fit the eddy part. I just fixed it all on the back! PietvWdV
Thanx Jamie & Jens! Here is a better view forward. The stick is deliberately forward since the vertical stabelisers are depressed. All the little levers, knobs and frames you see here are scratch built, since most of them did not survive. The Eddy set is excellent and highly recommended from my side. Well, thats all for now, I hope you enjoyed and all comments are welcome.

I am a fan of the Eduard stuff as well mate. combine it with some skilled building as you have and it makes the cockpit come to life in a big way. LSP_Matt
Good recovery Mav ( Jay will kill me now lol ) I tried some guitar string for oxygen hose but the stuff is a mongrel to bend up. No terribly pliable so unless you're using super bendy guitar for writing the music...great effort mate...very very convincing. Pit is looking really good I reckon. Great work. Any idea on schemes? When I do mine I'm using one GV found. Cheers mate Matty
