jeroenpeters
Are you kidding me?? This is freakin' amazing! The only way to get this right is by using real metal. Very convincing. You could not have obtained this with the HK models B17. Keep it up!

LSP_Kevin
Staggering detail in the cockpit Rich! I literally couldn't tell it was a model until I realised that the top view of the cockpit could only have been taken of a B-17 without a cockpit roof. Then it dawned on me: this was your model! Stunned... Kev
Out2gtcha
NICE!!!! Nothin looks like metal like metal! Great work Rich. How did you get your hands on the HK B-17 so early out of curiosity?
richdlc
thanks guys, you're too kind! Finally feel like I'm getting somewhere. I'm working closely with James Croasdale ( krow113 ) to get custom markings and masks made up as I have now decided on an airframe - a fictional aircraft from 359th Bomb Squadron, 303rd Bomb Group, 8th Air Force.... Brian - as you can see I got a test shot of the HK kit from the nice people at HK Models, so I will be using a few pieces of that sparingly to dress up my build as it'll be easier than scratching them...I was also thinking of using a few pieces for the diorama - an engine, a prop or two, a section of wing - to add realism. I'll see what's usable, and what I can strip down & detail. In other news, I've more or less finished painting & finishing the trailer, and building the wrecker...but I'll update the build thread for those in due course... thanks for checking in Rich Edited May 20, 2013 by richdlc

EvanAugust
Nice work on the cockpit. It gets said a lot, but this is one of those rare cases where your model photos really do look like the real thing.
